Notes Concerning Written Assignments:
All assignments are to be placed in the assignment drop-off box labeled for your specific EngG 130
LAB section.
Express your answers to 3 sig. figs. where appropriate
These drop-off boxes are located on the second floor in the NREF building near the main staircase.
All assignments must be handed in before 3 PM on the due dates specified in the table above. Late
assignments are not accepted and will receive a grade of zero.
All work submitted, including assignments, must be your own. See Code of Student Behaviour in the
University Calendar.
All assignments must be neat and hand written on Engineering Paper; use pencil; staple all
pages and use the assignment solution format provided.

Notes Concerning MasteringEngineering Assignments:

MasteringEngineering access codes are included with new textbook purchases from the U of A
bookstore, or available for separate purchase Campus eBookstore Incorporated (CEI) or through the
eClass if you have a used textbook or buy your book elsewhere.
Only some questions from each assignment are graded; the others, clearly indicated, are for practice
and are optional.
There is no penalty applied to grading for using hints or for taking multiple tries to solve a problem
(unless it is a multiple-choice question). Penalties are applied if questions or portions of questions are
incomplete or are incorrect.
All grading takes place based on correct solutions at the due date and time indicated even though
you will have access to the questions after this time.
It is recommended that written solutions be prepared when solving each problem, but only the on-line
submission is marked. The written solutions provide additional practice at documenting your work in
the manner needed for all examinations, labs and written assignments.

Notes Concerning Laboratories:

You will be completing engineering calculations during each laboratory session. Bring a pencil,
calculator, straight edge, engineering paper, stapler, etc.
All lab worksheets are distributed at the beginning of the lab period. Labs must be completed on
Engineering Paper and submitted, stapled, along with the question sheet, at the end of the lab
period.
All work submitted, including assignments, must be your own. See Code of Student Behaviour in the
University Calendar.
Express your answers to 3 sig. figs. where appropriate
* No formal lab classes are held for Lab#9. Lab#9 will be handed out during the Lab#8 and must be
handed in at the beginning of Lab#10.
** Lab#12 is distributed at the end of Lab#11. It is not marked but should be completed for practice prior
to the exam.

Notes Concerning Exams:

Examinations in EngG 130 are common to all lecture sections.
Old exams (without solutions) are available on the course website; course emphasis, topics, etc. may
differ each year.
Faculty Calculator policy is strictly enforced in all examinations. Only non-programmable
calculators with appropriate GOLD sticker will be permitted; all others are banned. See faculty website
for the sticker procedure.
