Welcome to the Summer 2012 edition of the Esri-MUG


Newsletter. If you have a calendar item, GIS activity, or GIS news item that

Esri-MUG 2012 Annual Conference


Its time to register and submit a paper for this falls EsriMUG 2012
Conference! Discount Early Bird pricing ends August 31. The call for papers is
open until October 12. To register, to submit a presentation abstract, or for
more conference information, go to http://www.esri.com/events/mid-
atlantic/index.html.
The conference will be held on December 11-12, 2012 at the Inner Harbor
Hyatt Regency Baltimore, Baltimore, MD.
As always, the conference will feature Esri taught workshops, keynote
speakers, vendor exhibits, poster displays, user presentations, and Esri
technical sessions.
The Pre-Conference Workshops on December 10th include:
Esri Certification Skills Review 8 am 6 pm
Building Web Applications Using ArcGIS API for JavaScript 1-5 pm
ArcGIS for Water Utilities 8 am 12 noon
ArcGIS for Server Performance and Scalability: Testing Methodologies -
1-5 pm

Esri-MUG 2012 Golf Tournament


Brendan Ford, golf outing chairman, is planning this years tournament for
October 4th at 1 pm at the Compass Pointe Golf Course in Pasadena, MD. The
registration fee will cover dinner after the round. Anyone interested in playing
in or sponsoring the event should send an email to Brendan Ford
(Brendan.Ford@fairfaxcounty.gov).

Esri-MUG Fall Meeting
Our spring and fall meetings have been very successful and we plan to continue
them. Look for more details about a fall Esri-MUG meeting in the near future.

Esri-MUG 2012 Bike Tour


Our President, Ken Juengling, is planning another fun bike tour for this year.
Watch for more information about the place and time.

Esri-MUG Spring Meeting


Our spring meeting was held May 17, 2012 from 9:00am-12pm. It included
presentations by Matt Martini, Esri, on Creating and Sharing Geospatial Data on
the Web and Turning Geospatial Data into Maps and Apps, as well as a user
presentation by Sandi Stroud. We had a great turnout and by all accounts, it
was a very worthwhile meeting.

Esri-MUG is Non-Profit
Esri-MUG is pleased to announce that we recently received our official non-
profit status!

Maryland Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Conference
The Maryland Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Managers (MAFSM) will
hold its 8th annual conference on October 25, 2012 at the Maritime Institute in
