Class 9036 Type DG Float Switches

for Tank and Sump Applications

INTRODUCTION The Class 9036 Type DG float switch opens and closes an electric circuit by
an upward ar downward movement of the lever arm, controlling the liquid in
a receiving tank or sump.
The contacts of a standard action float switch e/ose on liquid rise. The
contacts of a reverse action float switch open on liquid rise. The reverse
action kit may be installed al the factory (Form R) or in the field (9049 A58).

Motor Protection This float switch does not provide motor protection, but it may be used as a
pilo! to operate an overload-protected starter. Contact your local Square D
sales office fer information on our complete line ol motor starters.

COMPENSATING SPRING A compensating spring may be installed at the lactory (Form C) or ir the lield
(9049 A 19). lf the weight of the red and stops plus the force up to trip exceeds
the buoyancy of the float, a compensating spring and a center hole float are
required. Fer more information, refer to lnstruction Bulletin L-4167A.

A CAUTION
UNINTENDED EQUIPMENT OPERATION
Do not use compensating springs on reverse action float switches.
Float switches are factory calibrated. Do not adjust unless you are:
- lnstalling a compensating spring, or
- Changing the number of stops or tubing length.
Fallure to lollow these lnstructions can result In injury or equlpment damage.
