LIBRARY BUILDING IN COLD REGION

ZHAO Hui
(School of Architecture & Design, Changchun Institute of Technology, 130012, Changchun, China)

AbstractConsidering climatic characteristics in cold region, existing high school libraries in Changchun
are researched according to investigation of real conditions of these library buildings. Mathematical analysis and
CAD methods are used to summarize the relation between building shape and building energy saving of high
school library. Strategies are put forward for sustainable development of high school library building in cold
region, providing reliable design basis for construction of high school libraries in Changchun.

Abstract: Increase of concrete strength is realized through hydration reaction of cement in the concrete
and it is in positive correlation with curing temperature. Specification for Winter Construction of Building
Engineering (JGJ/T 104 2011) specifies the calculation method for conversion between these two factors.
Through equivalent conversion, the relationship between curing age under general natural environment and
curing age under standard constant temperature. Related methods are put forward for improvement of
temperature measurement method for winter construction which uses maturity curve equation after analysis of the
difference between the temperature measurement conditions under which the equation is used and the conditions
under which the equation is established.
Key words: winter construction; degree of hydration; maturity; temperature -time product; early strength;
temperature measurement
