ABSTRACT

The structural design, at present, needs the use of automated means of calculation, design and drawing
to simplify routine tasks and improve accuracy. This allows more realistic analysis, therefore, safer
and more economical solutions.
The PAC-Prticos is an automatic calculation, design, and drawing program, which has a robust
algorithm based on the national building regulations of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete, REBAP,
for the study of frame structures, isolated or integrated into buildings, which allows, suggestive and
simple study of all its elements (beams, columns and foundations), covering all phases of the project
and finishing in the drawings.
This work is the adaptation of the PAC-Prticos to the new regulations, that will provide the choice of
design details according to current regulations to Eurocode 2, or according to the most economical of
the two..
To perform this adaptation we started by making a comparison of the various structural elements in
terms of its design criteria, maximum and minimum limitations and the design criteria present in
REBAP and Eurocode 2, respectively.
After the study of the routines of the design algorithms by REBAP, present in the program, to prepare
the pseudo code to support routines that recreate the criteria for design details present on Eurocode 2.
Finally, on a project carried out by Newton, Engineering Consultants, with the calculation program,
PAC-Prticos, we have tested the new design criteria present in Eurocode 2, choosing different
structural elements to make a comparison.
