POWER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
CONSULTANCY SERVICES

This request for expression of interest follows the general procurement notice for the
Kenya Power Transmission System Improvement Project that appeared in the United
Nations Development Business Issue No. 792 posted online on 19th January 2011.

The Government of Kenya has received a Loan from the African Development Fund
(ADF) and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the loan to eligible payments
under the contract for Consultancy Services for the Kenya Power Transmission
System Improvement Project which involves the construction of 431 km of 132 kV
transmission lines and associated substations covering the following:

Lessos-Kabarnet 65 km
Nanyuki-Nyahururu 79 km
Olkaria-Narok 68 km
Sotik-Bomet 33 km
Ishiara-Kieni 33 km
Mwingi-Kitui-Wote-Sultan Hamud 153 km

The Consultancy Services include:-

Detailed tender design and preparation of bidding document of transmission
lines and associated substations,
Preparation of contract documents and assistance in contract negotiations,
Preparation and submission to KETRACO and the Bank of a detailed project
implementation schedule,
Review and approval of contractors design documents,
Supervision of construction works and certication of contractors payments,
Contract administration
Preparation of monthly and quarterly progress reports and,
Preparation of Project Completion Report.

The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) now invites

Consulting rms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested
rms must provide a statement of capability and experience indicating that they
are qualied to perform the services (Company prole, nancial status, brochures,
description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of
appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their
qualications.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the African Development Banks

Rules and Procedures for the Use of Consultants.
