THE SEMBRICH PRESENTS MARK TWAINS MUSIC BOX, On Wednesday, August

23rd at 1:30 pm, a program that, through narration, readings and music, explores Twains musi-
cal tastes and opinions running the gamut from poignant to hilarious as found in his writ-
ings and biographical information. Tickets are $20. As seating is limited, reservations are strongly
recommended. This 90-minute program features a nine-member ensemble, comprised of a narra-
tor, a singer, two violins, oboe, cello, piano, banjo and percussion presenting a variety of musical
selections, from Schubert lieder to Stephen Foster songs, all works considered by Twain to be
essential listening for the culturally-sophisticated individual. With this project we use fine mu-
sic to teach about important history, says Laux, who is associated with the Mark Twain House
and Museum in Elmira, NY.

VERMONT VETERANS SUMMER CONCERT The Prescriptions band will be at the Vermont
Veterans Home located at 325 North Street, Bennington, Vermont. On Wednesday, August 23rd
from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM. This outdoor concert is FREE and is open to the community, bring

A TRILOGY OF HERITAGE QUILTS. This collection has
been given over the years. The Museum began in 1925 as a
community service when purchased by Miss McFarland. The
Daughters of the American Revolution assumed management
until 1964 when the Cambridge Historical Society was organized
and assumed management. The Museum is a not-for-profit
organization and serves the area in collecting and preserving its
historical heritage and documents. On August 19th from 1:00
to 3:00 p.m., the Museum will present a collection of six quilts
as well as quilts brought in from area residents. It will be a
Show & Tell presentation. The set of 6 quilts features a quilt
made and donated by a church in the Town of Cambridge. Please
come and join the Quilt Fest. Quilts do not need to be vintage,
just loved and special so we can all enjoy them. The last exhibit
will be on September 9th. Everyone is welcome. A quilt is not
necessary to gain admission. The Museum is at 12 Broad St. in

MUSIC ON THE LAWN: Old Saratoga Reformed Church will
host Caf Musica on the Lawn on Sunday, August 20 at 4pm.

CHARITY BREAKFAST: The Perry family invites everyone

WELSH FAMILY HISTORY SEMINAR, Researching your
Welsh Family Tree: DNA and Genealogy by Susan Davies Sit,
Genealogist, to be held: Saturday, Sept. 16, 9:30 a.m. Sponsored
by the Welsh-American Genealogical Society, Inc. (WAGS), this
seminar will be held in the Town Room of historic (1805) United
Baptist Church, On the Green, East Poultney, Rutland County,
Vermont, a handicap accessible site. If youve ever wanted to
understand what all the fuss is about DNA, the presentation DNA
and Genealogy will enable you to understand its use in your
genealogy research, in a complete and easy-to-understand format.
Presented by Susan Davies Sit of Glastonbury, Connecticut, a
member of WAGS, one will learn about the top companies selling
DNA tests, how to read the results and what it means for your
research. The presentation has a leaning towards Welsh genealogy
but is suitable no matter your ethnicity or your roots. Additionally,
Susan may expand upon some of the topics discussed during her
presentation given in 2016 in Poultney. Susan, a native of Colwyn
Bay, Wales, has been researching for more than 40 years her own
family heritage branches as well as her husbands, which jointly
include research in Wales, England, Scotland, the U.S.A. and
China. In addition to being a member of WAGS, Susan is President
of the Welsh Society of Western New England and a member of
the Gwynedd Family History Society (UK). A limited number of
one-on-one sessions may also be held with Susan following
luncheon. Bring your own bag lunch, or if you prefer, ample time
will permit one to go across the street to the historic, now 155-
year old, East Poultney General Store to purchase lunch from its
deli. Attendees are invited to bring a Welsh dessert to share for
the luncheon. Also after the luncheon, The Reverend Todd Eaton
of the United Baptist Church will be available to provide a guided
tour of the historic chapel; the chapel and its community which
helped to shape the formative years in the life of the late George
Jones, co-founder of The New York Times newspaper. Jones was
born in East Poultney, Vermont of Welshborn parents having
emigrated to America from Montgomeryshire, Wales in the late
1700s. All interested genealogists are welcome to register for
this seminar. The DNA presentation is pertinent to all heritages;
not only Welsh. PLEASE NOTE: Seating for this event is limited;
