There he meets another boy named Jack Dawkins, or the artful Dodger.
Jack then leads Oliver to Fagin. He was going to give him a place to
sleep and food. Oliver eventually learns that Fagins boys are all thieves,
but not until he is wrongfully accused of their crime of stealing an old
gentlemans handkerchief. He is arrested, but Mr. Brownlow, who was
the victim, feels bad for Oliver and takes him in.
Oliver is very happy with Mr. Brownlow, but Fagin is scared that Oliver
will tell Mr. Brownlow about what he does and give away his hiding
place. So one day, Oliver gets kidnapped by one of Fagins men and is
forced to break in a house with Bill Sikes, a man who worked with
Fagin, where he gets shot while Bill Sikes escaping. He recuperates
himself in the house of Mrs. Maylie who brought him in to protect him
from the police.
He gets well and they take him to see Mr. Brownlow, but they find out
he has moved to the West Indies. At the end, he comes back. Fagin and
Sikes try to kidnap Oliver but fail. Sikes dies by accidentally hanging
himself when he fell from a roof while trying to escape from the mob
surrounding him. Fagin is arrested and later executed. Oliver, Mr.
Brownlow, and the Maylies end up living in peace and comfort in a
small village in the English countryside.
M.C:
Oliver Twist: main character
Fagin: antagonist
Mr. Brownlow: who was the one who adopted Oliver and he treated
him nicely although Oliver had stolen him when they met
Jack Dawkins: one of Oliver`s friends who was also with Fagin.
Liked it: I liked the book because it was easy to follow, short and
really entertaining and I also liked that it had a happy ending. I actually
read it when I was little and saw the movie.
