2 Warning
2.1. Notes on handling the printed circuit board with microprocessor
The microprocessor is constructed using CMOS digital IC and MOS FET technology, and is extremely sensitive to static electric-
ity, including static discharges from handling, clothing, and from objects, including soldering irons. Care must be exercised as
specified below.
When handling, workers shall be grounded through a few MW of resistance.
Ground soldering irons. Do not use poorly insulated soldering irons. preferably, use soldiering irons with microcircuitry.
Do not touch the pins of ICs or other elements with your hands. Do not place the board on a conductive surface that may be
charged.
Do not insert parts from the reverse side of the board.
When testing with a multimeter during continuity tests, do not use high resistance ranges (*10000), which subjects ICs and other
components on the board to excess voltage.
Keep soldering time as short as possible. (within a few seconds)
Unplug the power cord from the wall socket before replacing any components.
Be aware of the risk of electric shock or injury when handling a live control board. The control board's transformer carries 220
VAC.

6 Test Mode
6.1. Pre-test setting
Make sure that the LCD panel shows the current time with the inner pan set in the cooker and the power cord plugged into the wall
socket.
Be sure to check that the cooker main body is cooled enough. (If a hot cooker is tested, the cooker may enter the self-diagnosis
mode.)

6.2. Steaming test (to determine a malfunctioning pan sensor)

Test conditions power Supply: 220 VAC
Check the bottom of the inner pan and the pan sensor to repair or, if necessary, replace them.
1. Feed water into the inner pan until the bottom of the pan is covered with water. Close the outer lid. Press the cook key twice to
start the steaming test in the "polished rice high-speed cooking" mode.
When steam escapes, open the outer lid to check if the water is boiling well.
Place two or three sheets of tissue paper (or gauze) into the pan in such a way that the sheets are spread over the bottom of
the pan, as shown in the illustration below, then leave the cooker on.
NOTE

1 Make sure that steam escapes from the cooker before

opening the outer lid. If you open the outer lid too early, the
microprocessor will detect this as a malfunction,
causing the LCD panel display to remain unchanged.

2 Make holes in the tissue paper (or gauze),as shown, so that

it will not float up during steaming.

2. Monitor the amount of time it takes for the water in the

cooker to steam away completely, until there is no steam Defective Nomal range Defective

Switch timing of the LCD

* Random setting of current time

3. You can conclude that the unit passed the steaming test if the LCD switches within the normal time range at the end of steam-
ing.
If the unit fails the switching timing test, check for poor contact between the inner pan and the pan sensor. If necessary,
remove any dirt deposit from between them, or replace the inner pan and/or the pan sensor.
If, for no apparent reason, the switching timing is too early, lightly polish the bottom of the inner pan with sandpaper (#600) ten
times or so, and repeat the test.
Depending on the cooking time, the LCD will switch from complete cooking to Keep Warm, skipping the "time remaining for
the steaming process." This is normal, and this timing is considered as the switching timing of the LCD.

12
6.3. KEEP WARM TEST
6.3.1. The procedure of the keep warm test
(Because this test is a simple test, correctly, keep a meal warm and confirm it.)
1. Place a mercury thermometer between urethane foam blocks.
(Urethane foam blocks (ASN-300) and the thermometer (ASN-150H) are supplied as spare parts.)
2. Place the urethane foam blocks holding the thermometer in the center of the bottom of the pan, and allow the cooker to run in
the Keep Warm process.
3. More than one hour later, open the lid and read the temperature within 10 seconds.
The temperature in the 69C - 77C range is normal. If the warming temperature lies outside this range, make sure that no dirt
or foreign matter is stuck on the pan sensor or on the bottom of the pan.

The product is designing of 74C2C as the aim with keeping warm temperature.

4. If the test ends, it returns a keeping warm mode to the condition before doing a test.

10 Measurements and Adjustments
10.1. ADJUSTING THE INPUT POWER SUPPLY
Input power is factory-adjusted for the P.C.B. (Operation) and then supplied to the user. (For normal operation, therefore, it is not
necessary to adjust the input power.) However, if adjustment is needed for some reasons, follow the procedure below: Note that the
adjustment dials (VR1 and VR2) are on the control board, therefore it is difficult to adjust the power from the outside.
Before adjusting the power, order a new operation panel, and replace the problem operation panel with a new panel. After that,
adjust the power.

10.1.1. Procedure
1. Apply 220 VAC 50 Hz. (including the time during the adjustment)
2. Pour a 0.5 liter of water into the inner pan.
3. Perform a quick check test of the control board (See page 9.) to light COOKING LED on.
4. Min push a key once.
Rice cooker stop now, as displaying "U12" with respect to LCD in case that don't push a key.
5. Perform running-in for 10 minutes.
6. Turn VR1VR2 and VR3 as shown below to adjust the power in order of 1 to 5.
