RAPIDARC VOLUMETRIC ARC THERAPY
Metropolitan Radiation Oncology is one of the first
centers in the country to employ this major
advance in radiation therapy. VMAT delivers highly
precise radiation treatment much faster than other
technologies. Treatments that once took 15-30
minutes can sometimes be accomplished in as little
as 2 minutes.
VMAT is also exceptionally precise in delivering
radiation because it tracks the speed, dose, and
tumor shape as the machine movies. Less of your
healthy tissue is damaged, allowing you to recover
faster and with fewer side-effects than with other
treatments.
IMRT (INTENSITY MODULATED
RADIATION THERAPY)

advanced system which paints the exact amount
of radiation onto the tumor with pinpoint accuracy.
This highly individualized therapy attacks your
cancer in a way that minimizes damage to your
surrounding healthy tissue and organs, helping to

CT SIMULATOR
The CT Simulator provides the most accurate
imaging of tumors available today. Full scans take
a mere 3-5 minutes and produce a highly detailed
3D image of your body. We use this to tailor your
treatment according to your unique anatomy, so
we can carefully avoid harming your healthy tissue,
and focus the radiation only where its needed.
IGRT (IMAGE GUIDED
RADIATION THERAPY)
We want to ensure that your cancer is eliminated in
the safest way possible, and this begins with
knowing the exact location of your tumor. Cancer
cells can travel throughout your body between
visits. Our new and state-of-the-art IGRT technology
hones in on the location of these cells so they can
be attacked with the greatest amount of cancer
killing radiation, protecting your healthy cells and
organs. This helps eliminate any unnecessary
damage to your body while destroying the cancer

HDR (HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE)
HDR Brachytherapy is a new development in the
fight against prostate cancer, offering patients a
safer and more efficient alternative to surgical
procedures. This state-of-the-art method places
the cancer-killing radiation right at the sight of
the tumor and attacks it with powerful radiation.
Higher doses of radiation means a higher rate of
curing cancer.
