Thematic area description
The module CHURCH GUIDE is a part of the vocational training program Guide.
Target group/level
Participants in the course are people with high school or university education, employees
that want to obtain additional professional qualification.

Learning objectives
Acquisition of professional competencies theoretical knowledge and practical skills that
are necessary for successful prosecution of the profession CHURCH GUIDE
Learning results
1. To get general knowledge in theology, religion history, the
orthodox/catholic/protestant church features
2. To get acquaint with essential concepts and definitions
3. To make comparative analysis of different religions
4. To be able to organize and conduct church guiding tours.
Assessment Plan
Initial assesment
Questionnaire for the assessment of the training needs for church guides.
Interim (formative) assessment
Description of a famous church or a monastery in Austria/Germany/Greece/Romania using
the template of the Informative guide.
Final assessment
Practice- making plan & touring in a church in the region with a group.

Activity 1.
Theology and history of the religion
Training methods recommended:
Lecture/presentation, Free discussions, Structured discussions
Activity 2.
History of orthodoxy; orthodox church architecture, symbols, saints and iconography; the
orthodoxy in traditional Bulgarian lifestyle /customs, celebrations/, etc.;
