PE-From ID focus in Presentibility how it looks-aesthetics.

ME- converts that design to manufacturability, with tolerance

PE- how well it performs on the field

Lets say vehicle dynamics Overall Dimentions of the car is given, you
guys design very good body, they come up with awesome design.

But there is a huge difference from concept design to what comes on road-

At the end of the day it is an integration of all the 3 teams-

Bssically whatever is put on paper cant be a virtual reality keeping in

mind design aspect-cost aspect and functionality.

At the end of the day its user cost value for money.

ID design something ME converts it into manufacturable part- how it

performs we take care.

Say a bottle ID come up with a design, ME come up with a Engg drawing,

say a beer bottle- it goes through a conveyor, say 50m/s. It should not fall,
you have to stop the line ,clean up the mess,

Next part is filling-its a pressurized gas filling. Bottle should withstand

pressure. Lets say filling pressure is 14 bar,it should not burst in.

Third comes capping-it comes with a certain load. Its based on your
conveyor design again.

Ship it up-production is in Delhi- distribution is like 100km away. Vibrations,

loads, we simulate loads coming during transport also and revert back to
ME team, load transfer on these parts are more these are critical points.
These is where you have to update-but manufacturability is again taken
care by ME team.PE-Predicting it in virtual world before its actually on the
field.

On a conveyor it should not fall-simulation.

Plastic bottle is done on extrusion blow molding. At high temperature metal
or polymer their strain rate vary. At high pressure thickness distribution
plays a imp role. Thickness is directly proportional to stiffness. Every bottle
will have diff thickness ,weight-

Seal integrating of bottle- tightening of the cap-why is sealing imp- to

prevent moisture get into it-permeability of material, seal leakage,

Grade of plastic is imp-MVTR test, compression test,

We have target it should not get spoiled till 12 months warrenty-

Package is imp-food grade is safe n intact.

Ergonomic force required for seal breakage.-PE simulate ,

Any product is on the shelf-It should attract your attention. This is where ID
is imp-aesthetics.

Once you buy it-how good is your unpacking option-customer complain is

very difficult to open the seal,

Say a biscuit package-material itself is tearing-in this case since the seal
force is very high package itself is getting teared randomly.you cant even
store it ,you are forced to eat it otherwise normally we will pin it or staple it.

Consumer research 2-3 months, what the consumers are feeling best
ergonomic force, what the customers are feeling.

Then we find the optimum seal force required, where people are findng
easy to open and material itself is not breaking from Consumer research.

FE methods- We convert it into finite model which is then used for

calculations, we do shape formulation, give internal pressure and give it a
shape.

Lateral compression in transportations. 10 cartons one over another it

should withstand this-amount of force it can withstand. We will have a
target load- force to breakage is calculated here.
Air filled package at high altitude-Pressure change expand-simulate.
model the package-pressure change based o that volume change.-based
on vol change it exerts seal over the package.

160 N capacity of pull- seal

56 N pull break the seal-brought to 26 N- changes in material property of

seal easy for opening.

Soft- surface-

Rubber has higher friction, Injected, Parting line???

From where plastic enters the mould.
