ABSTRACT

Each mining activities, particularly in the transport activity is never separated


from the interaction between the condition of the road geometry and the
production of transport means used. Conveyances used in PT. Bukit Asam on
front mining Northern Air Laya is Dump Truck Nissan CWB 520. Mine road
provided at a distance of 1,800 m - 2,000 m. Where the distance is divided into 19
segments of roads, for each segment of road at a distance of 100 m. The width of
the haul roads in straight condition is 10m - 13m and width of the road on a bend
is 14m - 16m. Based on the specifications of conveyances used were obtained
minimum width haul roads to two lanes on the straight road that is 9 m and on
street corners is 18 m. Mining roads provided sloped path varied between -
10,06% to 11,50%.

In the production road still has a road segment exceeding the mine haul roads are
good according to AASHTO Rural Highway Design Manual (1990), ie a
maximum of 9% road gradient. The slope of the road on exceeding contained in
segment B-C, C-D, G-H, J-K, N-O, O-P and P-Q. Therefore, in doing an
assessment of the slope of the haul roads at the mine site to provide
recommendations for improvements to production road transport means used to
work optimally.

Roadwork production that include: a). cutting road segment that exceeds 9% and
hoarding on the road segment that has not fulfilled -9% by volume of soil using
cutting results. b). Extra width of the road on a bend to get a minimum road width
to be met by means of transport used is 18 m.
