Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is X, graduate of Y High school, the humanities section. I am an outgoing young

man, ambitious, self-motivated, with high skills of communication and to relate to people,
fascinated by international relations and also by the English language.

Pursuing a career in the international relations is a perfect match for my skills and interests. A
special preoccupation for History, Psychology, political behavior and thoughts, elections,
Sociology, European Union is something that I see as the prerequisite for enrolling in the
Faculty of Political Sciences, the study programme of International relations.

Long tradition, worldwide recognition, personal contacts and references made me choose the
University of Bucharest. This is the alma mater of very many personalities, not only political
but also in many fields of expertise. A real hub of education, this institution makes all the
efforts to turn its students into genuine specialists.

The courses provided by the University of Bucharest covering the past, present and potential
international relations, here in Europe and the other continents, and the academia are strong
reasons for my desire to be a part of this academic body. The knowledge that I can acquire
from you, the theoretical background and relevant examples will be the best start in building a
solid support for my calling.

Watching and reading the news nowadays is not always an easy task. Presidents give
statements, start wars just by shaking hands with a disgraced person, take selfies with
controversial people. Peace truces end in a blinking of an eye and eternal enemies become
friends overnight. Huge debts are forgiven but not forgotten, killing innocent civilians stirs
international turmoil. We hear about kidnappings, ransom money and campaigns for the next
presidential terms.

When looking at this intricacy of events, anyone from the outside of the circle would be
puzzled. There is a visible, but also an invisible, hard-to-reach side of them. Our
understanding is limited and nothing in the media will ever make it more straightforward for
the viewers, people having a certain interest in all the above.

The world crumbles at the hand of some dictators and we are trying to understand why things
happen that way. Now, the right time came for me to fulfill my dreams and interact with
people who speak the same language. I am looking forward to meet and make new friends
among my peers, my teachers from Romania and abroad, to become a member of a network
of people always careful to the political developments and to the ties that are done and undone
everywhere.

I really cannot wait to count myself among those who are in the middle of the events, travel
miles and years to reach that place they are interested in. And that place moves and we move
along with it, in a permanent search for answers to our questions.
International relations is a broad term and I truly believe that I will grasp all its meaning
during my studies at this Faculty. To study and exchange ideas, experience in a nurturing
environment seems the ideal context for me, to help me become a valuable alum.

Sincerely,
