In addition to our scholarships, we offer many prizes, grants and bursaries that
can help you get the most out of your time at university.

Grants are available to undertake
volunteering or leadership activities.
Excel in your studies and you could
pick up a coveted prize for academic
achievement. Bursaries are available
for a variety of needs and can ease the
financial pressures of uni so you can
focus on your studies.
Many student bursaries have been
established by generous bequests and
donations to assist students in financial
need. The University awards over 500
one-off bursary payments per year,
varying from $200 to $10 000.
To be considered for these grants, you
must provide evidence of financial need,
and submit an online Student Financial
Assessment.

Melbourne Chancellors Scholarship
The Melbourne Chancellors Scholarship is awarded to talented undergraduate
students in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement during their
Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate (IB).

least 99.85 and achieve an audition
score of A+, or
Are of Indigenous Australian descent

not just the $22 000 in living allowances
shes thinking about.

The scholarship, open to second-year

Indigenous students in Arts, Commerce
or Science, was developed in consultation
with Murrup Barak, Melbourne Institute
for Indigenous Development.

Paris, a Trinity College student, has her

eye on pursuing academia. She also
hopes to continue to mentor young
students through the Universitys
Aspiring Scholars Program.

Paris also received a University

housing bursary, a Trinity College
General Scholarship and an academic
achievement award for excellence in
first-semester studies in 2017.

Access Scholarships in equity scholarships

For many, the road to uni isnt easy. If you qualify for consideration under our
Access Melbourne admissions program, you could land a scholarship that can help.

There are many different ways of getting
to uni. If your circumstances have
prevented you from achieving your best,
Access Melbourne can help. The University
offers close to 200 Undergraduate Access
Scholarships to Access Melbourne
applicants. These scholarships provide
an allowance of $5000 per year for the
duration of the course and some cover the
course fees as well.
To be automatically considered for an
Undergraduate Access Scholarship for
2018, you will need to submit your SEAS
application by October 10 2017.
These awards include:
Melbourne Access Scholarship
For commencing students who gained
admission to the University while having
experienced difficult circumstances that
affected their Year 12 studies. About 170 of
these scholarships are awarded each year.
Alexander and Bridget Jones Memorial
Scholarship
For students from rural and regional
areas. Established by the Bendigo
and Adelaide Bank and the University
of Melbourne in memory of two
students who lost their lives in tragic
circumstances in 2013.
Mildura Alumni Scholarship
For students from the Mildura region.
Established by a donation from
University alumni to celebrate the former
all-residential Mildura campus. We award
three Mildura scholarships per year.
Ray and Violet Marshman Scholarship
For students from rural and regional
areas. There is one scholarship per year.
John and Olga Lawless Ziegler
Scholarship
For students who demonstrate
disadvantaged financial background.

way was the cost. My parents couldnt
afford to pay for me, because there are
four other kids at home. I was always
going to be financially independent when
I went to university, but I was going to
have to work for a year after high school

The Universitys residential colleges have a long history of providing

financial support for students relocating to Melbourne to study.
