Your answers to the following questions will form the coursework report and presentation
based on final report of Benefit-Cost Analysis of Car Share within the City of Sydney
resource material.

Part 2 - Individual report of 1500 words

Your answers to the following questions will form the coursework report based on Splunk
Helps Cars.com Drive Revenue Generation and Cost Reduction resource material.

1) Analyze Splunks Cars.com project, within political, economic, social, and technological
contexts. (20 Marks)

2) Discuss rationale for and against Splunks Cars.com.

3) What is/are the opportunity cost/s involved with this project? (10 Marks)

4) In a further analysis following amendments were identified for the project costs and savings:
The project is expected to have 15-year lifetime, with an initial investment of $180,000. System
analysis cost of $70,000, employee training cost of $85,000, and software relate cost of $90,000
are expected to incur in the first year of operations. The servers have to replace at the end of
third year with a cost of $25,000 for each server. Savings related to server and system
administration is expected to increase at 5 percent per annum till year 8 and 6 percent per annum
thereafter. Annual system maintenance cost of $80,000 is expected to increase at 4.5 percent
per annum till year 10 and 5 percent thereafter. The Splunk licensing cost is expected to settle
at the beginning of the each year, with an increase of 4 percent per annum till the end of the
project life. The hourly saving relate to data collection is expected to remain at $125 per hour till

the fifth year and $150 per hour thereafter. Cars.com expects $180,000 of incremental revenue
with an annual increase of 6 percent per annum throughout 15 years, with the implementation
of the new system.
The applicable discount rate for the project will remain at 7 percent.

Guidelines for referencing


All the information (books, journal articles, any other printed material, web pages) used must be
cited according to Referencing Guidance available from http://www1.uwe.ac.uk/students/

Submissions which are not fully referenced will be capped at 60%.

Submission requirements
You are expected to submit the report based on you own data, analysis and research with all
sources referenced. Northshore College considers plagiarism as a serious academic misconduct.
Hence you are supposed to provide sufficient evidence to prove the originality of your work if it is
required.
You are supposed to submit your group and individual reports on or before 11.00 pm July 3,
2017 and July 7, 2017 respectively, by uploading via Northshore LMS. The group presentation
date will be informed. The submission/s that do not meet stated deadline/s will be assessed as
specified in Student Handbook.

Formatting requirements

Following guidelines should be adhered in preparing both the individual and group reports
a) Main body font Arial 11 point
b) Line spacing 1.5
c) Margins 2.1cm all round

d) Pages to be numbered lower right hand corner in footer (10 point Arial)
e) The uploading file name should be UWE registration number/s.
f) Section headings Arial 11 point, bold, upper case and Arial 11 point, bold, lower case for
subheadings. If sub-subheadings are required use the same convention but reduce to 10
point
g) All graphs, figures and tables must be numbered and have a full caption (in addition to the
short caption you might have as a graph title). Table captions are placed at the top of the
table while graphs and other figures should have their captions below
h) Clearly laid out title page but YOUR NAME OR GROUP MEMBERS NAMES must not be
appeared anywhere in the document due to any reason.
Tables and lists may be used to illustrate aspects but must be accompanied by explanatory
text to form an integrated report. You are encouraged to use figures but these must be
incorporated into the document, titled and annotated to clearly identify the relevant content.
All the figures must be clear enough for the reader.

Assessment Criteria

Coursework will be marked using the criteria set out in A Basis for Grading Student Work. To
get full marks you must:
Ensure that the contents of the report are relevant to the assessment questions
Complete all sections
Record values accurately with appropriate significant figures
Use correct formatting and appropriate Units (if any)
Clearly state any assumptions
Clearly identify the sources of information

Marking scheme

The individual report and group report and presentation constitute 100% of your mark for
Component B of the module assessment, which is equivalent to 50% of the module mark.
Individual assessment carries (Component B1) 40% and group assessment carries 60%, where
presentation (Component B2) carries 20% and report (Component B3) carries 40%.

organization, financial management, engineering economics, and legal concepts.
