Dear Doctors,
Thank you for once again choosing to be part of our Faculty for school-year 2016-17.

The MDI 2: MPPRC is an activity that is generally appreciated by the second year Medical students. But while this
conference is mostly appreciated, there still are some areas we could work on, so as to make the MPPRC an even
more effective learning activity.

Here are some reminders:

1. Let us start classes on time.
2. A FACILITATOR is assigned each week
s/he will check attendance
s/he takes care of making sure that the discussion flows smoothly and will be finished on time- please
refer to time allotment per facilitator
s/he will make sure that the facilitators submit their grading sheets
s/he prepares questions for the short quizzes
s/he brings the MPPRC folder with the grading sheets to the Med Ed office after class
s/he will personally check (and score) the quizzes, and give these to the Med Ed secretary within the
week
quizzes are supposed to be returned to the students the week after it was given, so please
make sure that you give the secretary enough time to input the scores
questions on the quizzes will be addressed to the moderator for that week
3. Please follow the format for presentation (I have attached a copy that you can refer to). Some students
comment that the format is not followed by the facilitator. This also pertains to the time allotment per specific
parts of the discussion as follows:
Medicine (including history, PE, discussion of signs and symptoms 60-70 min
Pathology- 10-15 min
Radiology- 10 min
Pharmacology- 20-25 min
4. Please set aside time outside of our teaching load so that the students can have their consultation with us on
the part of their presentation focusing on our specialty. This is the best opportunity for us to streamline their
discussion so as to focus on MUST KNOW information.
5. Let us remember that there are 4 different specialties involved. The specialist will be in the best position to
decide what has to be stressed during the presentation of the students. But this has to be settled with the
students beforehandduring their consultation time.
6. As much as possible, allow the students to finish their discussions before asking questions
If we refer to the format for presentation, there are specific times when we ask questions or address
questions from the rest of the class
If the students were able to consult with us before their oral presentation, their discussion should run
smoothly.
If we do have to interrupt because their discussion is not what was agreed upon, let us observe proper
decorum.

In order to lessen complaints from the students about their not being shown their presentation grades, the
moderator will collect all the grading sheets from the facilitators, show these to the leader of the group that is
presenting, and ask the leader to countersign. This will signify that the group is aware of the grades they received.
The moderator will then submit the folders to the Department of Medical Education.

We realize that being MPPRC faculty means that you have to go over and beyond what you are being
compensated for. We are truly appreciative of the extra time and effort you have been giving just so that the
students will benefit from this learning activity. We are asking you to give the extra time and effort for this school-
year. May we ask you to sign a conforme if you are willing.

Thank you once again.

Sincerely yours, Noted:
