Outcomes* Assessed
1. Apply the two theories of static failure by yielding, namely, A Exam
the maximum shear stress theory and the maximum
distortion energy theory.
2. Size a bolt (determine diameter) for a specific application C Exam
based on theoretical static failure criteria.
3. Size a weld (determine throat size and/or weld length) for a C Exam
specific application based on theoretical static failure
criteria.
4. Construct and use the S-N diagram, and the Goodman E Exam
diagram, to conduct a fatigue analysis.
