Lady Demons devour the Lady Knights in a 17-0 Blowout game

Beggs fast pitch softball teams defense and offense pulled out all the stops, earning blowout win against
Henryettas fast pitch team Thursday. The Lady Demons defeated the Lady Knights 17-0 ending the game
in the third inning on a run rule.

Beggs Freshman Kacee Phelps debuted her high school career as a pitcher with poise. Despite her rookie
status, Phelps was able to control her pitches and earn three strike outs in the three inning game.

The Lady Demons were able to quickly end the inning by getting three consecutive outs through the
combined strength of Phelps and defensive players, Freshman First Baseman Shelby Caldwell and
Freshman Third Baseman Kaylee Hutton. Both Hutton and Caldwell were able to stop hits made by the
Lady Knights offense. Though the Lady Knights were able to get hits off Phelps, the Lady Demons were
able to gain three consecutive outs.

The Lady Demons defense was not the only stars of the game. Beggs earned ten runs in the first inning,
due to Henryettas pitcher, Senior Kim Hage, giving away runs. Hage started the inning on a rough note,
walking six players; four of which were allowed to get on first base after Hage hit them with a pitch.
Unable to recover, Hage was eventually substituted in the first inning by Henryetta Freshman Lexi Lollis
who finished out the rest of the game.

However, it was not only through errors that the Lady Demons were able to run up their score. Though
Beaver got on base by getting hit by a pitch, she was able to steal three bases, including home. Hutton
was also able to earn a bunt of Hage, earning a double and eventually a run.

By the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Demons were dominating with a score of 10-0. Their run
streak did not stop there. Beggs pulled even further in the top of the second, combining the strength of its
offense with its defense to stop Henryetta from making any runs. The Lady Knights were able to make
contact on a few pitches, but nothing that earned them a base. Beggs defense quickly put to rest any hits
that Henryetta made. Both Beaver and Freshman Caylee York were able to catch pop ups made by the
Lady Knights offense.

In the bottom of the second inning, Beggs was able to establish an even greater lead over Henryetta,
earning seven runs. Hutton was able to obtain the first hit of the inning, advancing to first base. She was
eventually able to not only steal to second and third base, but to home as well. While her teammates
Caldwell and Sophomore Devyn Hightower were able to hit triples.

The Lady Demons impenetrable lead could not be swayed, and in the bottom of the second it was sealed
17-0. Henryetta went to bat at the top of the third, but gained no headway, ending the game on a run rule.

After the win against Henryetta, Beggs fast pitch softball team currently has four wins and two loses for
the season. During the Beggs Festival, the Lady Demons were able to earn two wins against Panama and
Wilburton, winning 1-0 and 7-5. However, it was their season opener against Preston that set the stage for
the Henryetta game. The Lady Demons defeated Preston 12-0 Aug. 7, gaining another blowout win to
their stats.
Beggs fast pitch softball was scheduled to play a double header Monday at Warner, but due to rain both
games were cancelled. The Lady Knights were also scheduled to travel to Eufaula Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
