Abstract:

The New Age Movement psTAM) as a new form of religious movement

was started from Europe and U.S. at the period of 1960's or 70's. Until this decade,

it arrived at Hong Kong. For these years, the academic attention about NAM

becomes more and more. However, the general evaluation about NAM is tended to

negative. Some may treat it as the mixture of individualism and spiritual

consumerism, or a small-group cult that can not do any harm. But we can not find

any academic study about NAM in Hong Kong.

The Western scholars usually study the text in NAM; they seldom plan the

direct and in-depth surveys with the New Agers. So this essay will focus on the

personal interactions with those New Agers, the descriptions about joining their

activities and deep conversation with the New Agers become the main features of

this essay. The core questions of this thesis are: What is the transformation of their

life when they meet the thoughts and experiences of NAM? In their eyes, what is

the facet of NAM? Through this thesis we will understand the potential influence

ofNAM and the value for further study.

These are four things in which every man must interest

himself: Who am I Where from have I come? Whither am I
going? How long shall I be here? All spiritual inquiry
begins with these questions and attempts to find out the
answers.AndJoy comes to man not through the shape of
things, but through the relationship established. Not any
child, but her own child makes the mother happy. If are
establishes that kinship with everything in the Universe
what an overpowering joy could be experienced. Only those
who have felt it can understand.
