http://teacher.buet.ac.bd/zahurul/ Indicated specific fuel consumption (isfc) improves at a faster rate
with increasing compression ratio than the bsfc, because both
ME 401: Internal Combustion Engines
friction and heat losses are increasing with compression ratio.
Hence, there is an optimum compression ratio due to these effects.
The spark advance is set for best efficiency at = 0.91.

isfc decreases with increasing Nrpm and then levels out because %
of heat loss to the coolant decreases with increasing Nrpm .
bsfc is fairly flat or decreasing at low speeds and is increasing at

higher speeds. At higher speeds, friction & pumping losses become
more significant, as they increase quadratically with engine speed.

Identical power is produced at points A & B. At Point B the engine

speed is lower and the torque is higher than at Point A. Engine

Response to Acceleration-pedal Position in CIE

T594

The engine speed changes when the accelerator-pedal position changes

from 40% to 70% depressed. Starting from operating point A, the new
part-load operating point D is reached via the full-load curve (B-C).
T597 There, power demand and engine power output are equal. The engine
speed increases from NA to ND .
