NITians turning garbage into gold.

-Media cell, NIT Raipur

The bunch of creative students of architecture department, NIT Raipur who already
have proven their worth by beautifying various locations of Raipur, now came up
with another marvelous effort to transform an abandoned portion of the college
campus into Agora (Greek word meaning: a place for public gatherings). They
collected rusted pipes, ropes, metal and wood scraps from junkyard, worn tires
from motor-vehicle repair shops, paint from the paint rejects and transformed tires
and old ropes into fancy seats and swings, old wooden scraps into vividly colored
chairs, powdery remains of cement during loading and unloading of cement sacs
into a concrete platform. Working together with the laborers they themselves
decorated the whole place.

The place once considered to be a blanket of thick wild green mosses is now the
liveliest place of the campus. Being near to a temple this place is an ideal location
for religious events. This is amongst a common place for peoples to perform yog-
aasnas, the college students to relax and children to play.

The team is looking forward to represent this project at a national level competition
organized by National Association for Students Association (NASA). The
comprises of Priyanka baghel, Anusha Singh Chauhan, Arpita Shinde, Smiritika
balwada, Sajal tiwari, Sanket sahu, Rituraj shrivatav, Pankhuri Maurya, Shraddha
biyani, Harshwardhan Reddy. Priyanka Baghel, a team member, emphasized to
recycle waste and debris. This is because in absence of recycling practices these
wastes pose to be a burden for disposal.
