MODEL ANSWERS
Extension/Reflection Questions
1. Is there a need to know functions of the stages or major components of
television receiver?

Yes there is a need to know the function of every stage or major components
of television because it gives you initial knowledge in assessing or diagnosing
faults.

2. What is the importance of schematic diagram in diagnosing fault?

The importance of schematic diagram in diagnosing faults is to facilitate you

tracing the circuit especially between input and output of every stage. It also
guides you in determining the source of every supply line.

3. Does your knowledge in circuit tracing helps you in diagnosing faults? Why?

Having knowledge in circuit is a big contributory factor in diagnosing fault.

This is because not all the time a schematic diagram is available.

Safety Questions

4. What precautions did you applied during circuit tracing?

Proper handling of the board to avoid accidental cut or disconnection of wiring

connections. Also to avoid possible pcb crack during circuit tracing.

5. What safety measures did you observe when doing the continuity test while
doing the circuit tracing?

Making sure that there in no supply voltage present in the circuit while doing
the continuity test.

Calibrating the pointer of the ohmmeter every time the range is change.

Contingency Questions

6. What will you do if you find difficulty in identifying the input, output and
supply pin of a certain IC?

By referring to the ECG master replacement guide or using the internet to

know the pin identification of every IC.

7. What alternative ways and means are you going to do in the event the
number of a certain semiconductor device is difficult to read?
Provide a schematic diagram or simply unit with same brand and model
number.

Job Role/Environment Questions

8. Doing actual work, did you properly dispose the garbage materials
according to proper waste disposal?

By classifying the garbage materials applying the principles of 3Rs reduce,

reuse and recycle. Also classify hazardous materials that they should be
place in a safe keeping avoiding harmful effects to human life.

Rules and Regulations

9. How did you assess the trouble symptoms?

Assessing the trouble symptoms could be done in different approaches. By

conducting in interview to the owner, observing the performance of the unit if
the situation permits and by circuit tracing
