AND THE DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE LEGISLATIVE
ASSEMBLY (PONDICHERRY) ACT, 1964

I. S5ort title and commencement.-(1) This A@; *may be.

called the Salaries and Allowances of the Speaker and the
Dep-~tySpe2ker of the Legislative Assembly (Pondicherry) Act,

2. DefinitEons.--In this A&,. i~nlessthe context otherwise

requires-

(a) "Assembly" means the' ~egislative Assembly of '

(1) he.,- Speaker shall be paid such salary, co
and trivelling and daily allowances and'shall be entitled to all
amenities including those regarding residence and motor-car
and repayable advance for purchase of a motor-car, as are
provided for a Minister other than the Chief Minister and the
Deputy Minister under the Salaries and Allowances of h'linisters
(Pondicherry) Act, 1964 and the rules made thereunder.

(2) The Speaker shall also be paid a sumptuary allowance

of one hundred rupees per mensem.].

4. Speaker not to practice any profession.-The Speaker

shall not practice any profession or engage in any trade or
receive any money for employment other than his duties as
Speaker.

2[5. Salary and allowances etc., of the Deputy Speaker.-

The Deputy Speaker shall be paid such salary, conveyance and
travelling and daily allowances and shall be entitled to ail
amenities including those regarding residence and motor-car
and repayable advance for purchase of a motor-car, as are pro-
vided for a Deputy Minister under the Salariez and Allowance::
of Ministers (Pondicherry) Act, 1964 and the rxles made there-
under.].

6. Medical facilities to Speaker and Deputy Speaker.-Ths

Speaker and the Deputy Speaker and the members of their
families shall be entitled free of charge to accommodation in
hospitals maintained by the Government and also to medical
treatment in accordance with the Medical Attendance Rules, as

amended from time to time, applicable t o Class I 0&cers serving

7. S ~ e a k e rand Deputy Speaker not to draw any salary as

member; of the Assembly.-The Speaker and the Deputy
Spe iker shall not be entitled to receive any sum out of funds
provided by t3e Assembly by way of salary or allowances in
r e s ~ e c tof their membership of such Assembly.

8. Natificrticn respecting appointment of Speaker, etc., to

be concltlsive evidence thereof.-The date on which any person
beczme 3r c e i ~ e dto be a Speaker or Deputy Speaker shall be
pub1ished in Ihe Official Gazette of ihe Union territory of
Pon:?ichrrry snd any such notification shall be conclusive evi-
dence of the fact that he became or ceased to be the Speaker
or tile Deputy Speaker on that date for all the purposes of this
Act. --
