FAQs for DirectRemit

Q1) What is DirectRemit?


It is an innovative remittance service provided by Emirates NBD which allows
customers to do instant money transfers to their home country for free.

Q2) Which Emirates NBD channels can be used to initiate a DirectRemit


transfer?
Clients could initiate DirectRemit transfer via Online Banking, Mobile Banking
and select ATMs*.

Q3) Can one do a DirectRemit transfer to any country?


Currently DirectRemit option is available for India, Philippines and Pakistan.
More country corridors shall be added in due course.

Q4) Are there any fees and charges?


No, customers can do unlimited number of DirectRemit transfers for free.

Q5) What is the minimum amount which customers can transfer via
DirectRemit?
An equivalent of AED 100 in their respective home currency.

Q6) In which currency should the amount be entered?


Customers should enter the amount in remittance CCY (INR, PHP, PKR).
Applicable exchange rate is displayed on the transfer screens before initiating the
transaction.

Q7) Can customers send other than the home country currency?
No, clients can remit only in their home currency.

Q8) Does the sender need to add the beneficiary in the frequent beneficiary
list before initiating the transaction?
No,it is optional but it would help to save the beneficiary details for future
transfers.

Q9) What is the maximum remitting amount which customers can send via
DirectRemit?
Online channels segment limit is applicable for DirectRemit to India
transfers.
Maximum remittance amount for DirectRemit to Philippines is PHP
500,000
Maximum remittance amount for DirectRemit to Pakistan is PKR 500,000

Q10) What are all the available currencies which customers can remit using
DirectRemit option?
INR for DirectRemit to India.
PHP for DirectRemit to Philippines.
PKR for DirectRemit to Pakistan.

Q11) What is the processing time for DirectRemit transfers?

DirectRemit to India:
Transfers to HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank will be credited instantly within 60
seconds if done between 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM (UAE time). For other INR Bank
transfers, it will be credited within 1 hour if done during 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Monday to Friday and 7:30AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday (NEFT National
Electronic Funds Transfer clearing timings are applicable)

DirectRemit to Philippines:
Transfers to BDO Bank will be credited instantly within 60 seconds if it is done
between 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM (UAE time). For other PHP Bank transfers it will
be credited after 1working day.

DirectRemit to Pakistan:
Transfers to Faysal Bank will be credited instantly within 60 seconds if it is done
between 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM (UAE time). For other Pakistan Bank transfers, it
will be credited after 1 hour.

Q12) Can customers initiate DirectRemit trasnfers as a standing order?


Yes, ustomers can set DirectRemit transfers as Standing Instructions (SI) and
segment charges for setting the SI will be applicable. Please refer the
EmiratesNBD Schedule of Charges as applicable

Q13) Why do some customers get the below pop-up message while
initiating DirectRemit transfers?

Sorry, we are unable to process your request as a DirectRemit transfer. You may continue this
transaction as a regular international transfer option, normal fees and charges will be applicable;
however, funds will be credited to beneficiary account by the NEXT working day. Click on Confirm to
continue or Go Back to cancel.

Due to internal bank policy, some customers may not be able to transfer using
DirectRemit option as the bank may require additional details for processing the

same; hence this would need to be processed using Emirates NBD international
transfer service.
Q14) What happens if customers click Ok, once they get the above
message?
The transaction will be converted from DirectRemit to normal Swift transfer and
the time required for processing the international telegraphic transfer via SWIFT
shall be applicable

Q15) Are there any charges for DirectRemit transactions which get
converted to Swift?
No, all DirectRemit transactions which get converted to normal swift transfers
(TT) will be processed free of charge;However, correspondent bank charges may
apply, if any.

Q16) Is it mandatory to choose the purpose of payment for initiating a


transaction?
Yes,customers must choose the purpose of payment from the drop down list for
any DirectRemit transfer.

Q17) What purpose of payments are available for DirectRemit to


Philippines, India and Pakistan?

The purpose of payment is static for DirectRemit to Philippines and Pakistan as


below:
Overseas Filipino Workers remittances for Philippines
Home Remittance for Pakistan.
For India, customers should choose from the drop down list provided online.

Q18) Can customers request for opening HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, BDO
Bank or Faysal Bank accounts online?

Yes, customers can request for opening an HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank account
online via EmiratesNBD website.

Currently the same option is not available for BDO or Pakistan Bank account
opening.

Q19) Can customers cancel DirectRemit request?


No,DirectRemit transactions cannot be cancelled once processed since these
transfers are sent instantly to our partner bank without any manual intervention,
directly to the respective country.

Q20) What is the reversal process, in case of rejected transaction due to
incorrect details provided by the customer or remitter

Reversals of rejected and unsuccessful transfers shall be posted to customers


account within 3 working days and Foreign exchange Buying rates shall be
applicable.
