What is it like being a horse in a strange country? Write two journal entries from Bree or
Hwin's point of view right after they were brought to Calormen.
Brees Journal: Its been a long time since Im away from Narnia, and also its been a long
time since Ive been a slave and I spoke with others. Im afraid humans would discover I
could talk, because then I wouldnt be able to escape.
Brees Journal: Ive become a warhorse, and Im feeling that Im learning some things a
free horse from Narnia wouldnt do. I feel Im losing my pride, but I need to hide my true
me to escape someday.

Activity 4 Write in 100 words or less, a brief summary about chapter 2
After having escaped, Bree and Shasta want to go to Narnia to be free. While they have
their first breakfast, Bree told Shasta that they should first go to Tashbaan to then go to
Narnia because it is the easiest way. Shasta is still learning to ride the horse and from
time to time he asked Bree to tell him about the wars he fought, but Bree doenst like
remembering his life as a slave. Some weeks later, they noticed there is a Tarkaan
riding a mare near them, and they tried to hide from them, but they ended up escaping
from two lions with the other person and horse. After having escaped, they realised it is
a girl whose name is Aravis and the mares name is Hwin, and they were escaping to
Narnia too. Finally, after hesitating, they decided to go together.
