Abstract

Ancient Greek (Ital. Greco Antico) and New Greek (Ital.Greco Moderno) are gaining
more and more territory today in Italy and are one of the main courses of the Italian
classical high school (Italian Liceo Classico). However, it is of great interest today to
learn Ancient and Modern Greek and to Italian private education (language schools,
language centers and schools of Greek communities). The teaching of Ancient Greek
is done in relation to the teaching of the new Greek language and literature, taking as
a model the view of Wilamowitz (1967: 25-27) and of rberg (2009). According to
Wilamowitz, the scholar of classical languages ought to have intimacy with modern
languages (ie, Italian and Modern Greek). They are able to help learners develop
their linguistic abilities while learning Ancient Greek. The intimacy of learners in the
lively language helps in activating cognitive language learning processes, in learning
vocabulary memorization strategies (such as TPR - Total Physical Response, used in
Italy to teach the choirs of Orgasm and Greek dance) And the formulation of
criticisms of historical and linguistic type that contribute to the understanding of
Ancient Greek. At the same time, it is understood that Greek is a single language,
which displays many cultural and linguistic elements, which exist in Latin and Italian.

This paper presents a presentation of the modern teaching methods used in Italy in
secondary, private and minority education (eg in the villages of Kalimera and Sternaia
in Apulia where the idiom is spoken).
