Tests: A math test will be given at the end of every unit. There are assessments given midpoint to see
where the children stand and what information needs to be reviewed more. My website will be updated
to let you know when the tests are, and students will come home with a review packet two nights
before as homework, and then to study the changes they had to make.

Homework: Any homework given will be collected. I keep a checklist to see who has completed
homework. A grade will be given each day for the homework completed the night before, if it was
assigned. The homework will be graded based on the point value.

Quiz: Quizzes will be given to the children during the middle of the math unit to gauge progress. It will
be announced. Unannounced will be given on their facts. Knowing the facts in math in a set amount of
time is crucial to the children progressing to the higher grades. Time allotment will be based off of the
group your child is placed in. Most fact quizzes will be unannounced. They may not occur regularly.
When they do occur, they will be recorded.

Classwork: This includes any work that is done in class. This is normally the work done whole group that
we complete and check over. There may also be centers that will count as a grade for that day if needed.

Intervention work: Work is given every morning to the students when they have math intervention
blocks. It is different every day, based off of the topic we are working on to improve the learning
process. I record this grade as needed, based off of the days we have math intervention.

since we do the experiments there. There may be a time when I assign the children little
assignments to do at home.

Quiz: Quizzes may be given during a unit of study to gauge student progress. Any quiz given will
be unannounced as I am hoping to get an idea as to what we need to review for the final test at
the end of the unit. The quiz will only be a review of information already learned; there will not
be any new topics discussed in the quiz.

Classwork: This includes any work that we complete in class. Classwork also includes their
participation in class activities and assignments. This grade will be assessed by the teacher on
the willingness to be involved in the activities/ labs and their efforts, not on their academic
performance.

Notebook Check: Interactive notebooks are completed in class. They are graded and checked
for completion to make sure they are accurate with what we are learning and have completed

Test: This is to test the student on their comprehension and the concepts/skills learned in the unit.

to days off.

Spelling Homework: Spelling options are given to the students Monday-Wednesday. There is a list of
options in their homework folder in a plastic sleeve. It changes every month. It is graded using the 5

Classroom Management
The first week of school we will come up with what we feel are reasonable
class rules that every student should follow. We will sign a contract on the
agreement. Just as if the students were doing chores, they will receive Zebra
bucks in my class. These bucks will be spent to buy homework passes, pencils
or prize box items. Just as the students can earn them, I can also take them. If I
catch them not following the rules, I will expect them to pay me. If the students
do not have any zebra bucks to give me, they have obviously not been following
the rules they helped create and will have consequences, such as walking laps at
recess rather than playing for a particular day.

The costs of items are as follows:

Pencil -$5
Homework Pass-$7
Treasure Chest Item-$10

Homework passes may be used on all assignments except for a rough draft or
assigned project
