Winter camping
In order for the tent to function optimally in the winter, it is important that the ventilation
and air channeling works well. Vents on both sides of the tent are an absolute must in
order to let out as much condensation as possible. Fjllrvens tents have vents that
can be totally closed in order to keep out the rain or snow in really bad weather. In the
winter, there is a greater need to keep equipment in the apse since you often have more
equipment. Using a three-person tent for two persons is one solution if you are looking

Material

G-1000 an unsurpassed classic. G-1000 is a Fjllrven classic. The
densely woven fabric is a 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend, making the material
windproof and extremely hardwearing. An added impregnation also makes it water
resistant. You can improve the impregnation by applying Fjllrvens environmentally
friendly Greenland Wax. The high-strength fabric effectively releases moisture from
the body and is ideal for an active outdoor life. You will find our G-1000 products in
our Trekking line.
Windproof. The tightly-spun weave in G-1000 makes it vir-
tually windproof. The added impregnation provides complete
protection against the biting wind - and even against biting
mosquitoes, which find it hard to penetrate the fabric.
Hardwearing. G-1000-is highly resistant to wear. More
than twice as hardwearing as denim. Combined with its low
weight, this makes G-1000 garments ideal for traveling and
outdoor life.
Water resistant. Greenland Wax impregnation makes G-
1000 garments very resistant to rain and moisture. This means
that you can wear your garments during brief showers and,
even if the fabric does get wet, it will dry quickly.
Hydratic keeps you dry.
Water and windproof garments in Hydratic also wick away the bodys moisture, de-
creasing the risk that you will become sweaty. This is called diffusing, i.e. keeping
rain and water out but releasing the evaporating moisture from the body. A somewhat
more simplified term is that the garments breath, or are breathable. Hydratic, which
is a coating, laminate or loose membrane, is combined with the fabrics and provides
different levels of waterproofness and breathability depending on the combination.
Our Hydratic products are primarily found in the Trekking and Forest lines.
Waterproofness is measured in water columns, i.e. the pressure a
fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. The higher the water
column, the more pressure the fabric can withstand. In purely
technical terms, products that can withstand a water column
1,000 millimeters high are considered waterproof, although
the pressure from kneeling on wet ground is higher. Clothes
with Hydratic can withstand a water column of 8,000 to
20,000 millimeters.
Breathability is measured by the number of grams of
water a square meter of fabric lets through in 24 hours.
Hydratic releases between 3,000 and 15,000 grams. The
higher the number, the more moisture that is let out.

UV protection. The hard-woven fabric provides almost

100% protection from the suns alpha and beta rays.

Down. High-quality, down-padded products provide unsurpassed insulation in re-
lation to their low weight. Down can also be compressed and takes up little space
in the pack. The down in our products is a mixture of down and feathers. 97/3 means
the filling is 97% down and 3% feathers. The higher the percentage of down, the
better the quality and insulation. The downs ability to swell and fill the channels
in, for example, a sleeping bag is measured in CUIN (cubic inches per ounce) but
is also known as fill power. A higher CUIN value means better insulation, i.e. a bet-
ter ability to bind air. A value of 700+ is the minimum value, but the actual quality is
often higher.
Supreme Micro Loft. The synthetic fibers in Supreme
Micro Loft material have been developed in cooperation with
Fjllrven and are one of the best synthetic fibers that exist to-
day. The combination of thin and slightly rougher silicon-treated
microfibers fills the garment or sleeping bag with air, which in
turn provides insulation. The principle is the same as in down
products. Thanks to their ability to retain their shape even after
long-term use, the synthetic fibers are an excellent alternative
to down. The synthetic fibers are also better at withstanding
moisture and can retain heat even after getting wet.

Comfort Fleece. A top quality polyester fleece that keeps the wearer warm and
dry thanks to excellent moisture wicking and air pockets. The material has a high
warmth to weight ratio and will keep its shape and not pill even after repeated wash-
ing. Thanks to its moisture-wicking ability and wind penetrability, Comfort
Fleece is also ideal for activities where you want to feel the cooling effect
of the wind.
Active Wool. This mixture of merino wool and synthetic fibers produces gar-

HOW TO WAX YOUR G-1000 PRODUCT

G-1000, a tightly woven fabric made from hard-spun fibers in a 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend, is impregnated with Greenland Wax. The wax
reinforces the fabric's protection against wind, rain and wear.
After repeated washing and frequent use, the wax wears off and must be replenished. The wax is a mixture of paraffin and beeswax that melts at
