SOGI Bill
Proponents of the Anti-Discrimination Bill are optimistic it will become a law in the 17th Congress, after 16
years in lower house limbo.

The bill seeks to end discrimination for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex
(LGBTQI) community in the Philippines, after House Bill 5687 the latest version of the Anti-Discrimination
Bill failed to pass in the 16th Congress.

The bill seeks to ban discriminatory practices on the basis of ones sexual orientation or gender identity
(SOGI), namely: hiring, firing and demotions; rejection or expulsion from any educational or training
institution; giving harsher penalties, punishments, and requirements; refusal and revocation of honors,
achievements, and licenses; hindrance of use of public facilities; mandatory psychological tests; and
harassment or refused protection by law enforcers.

Violators could be fined from P100,000 to P500,000 or imprisoned for one to 6 years. In addition, courts
may require community service as a form of punishment.

PROs and CONs

Religion

SOGI Bill should be passed. Marriage is not only for
procreation, otherwise infertile couples or couples not
wishing to have children would be prevented from
marrying. Also, many religious leaders and churches
support gay marriage and say it is consistent with
scripture. The scripture says where love is, there is God
also. And they [the religious people] see that love in
our families, and I think people cant help but be
supportive. Another thing is that, legal marriage is a
secular institution that should not be limited by
religious objections to same-sex marriage. Religious
institution can disregard to marry gay and lesbian
couples if they want to, but they should not dictate the
marriage laws for society at large.
It has said in the bible that God gave us only two
different sex and that is male and female, no more.
But we, which called the children of God, are changing
it. We are adding another sex which are not supposed
to be added. On the other hand, other sex is not that
bad if your purpose is good. But if you use it to
degrade yourself, its like you allow yourself to be
treated like an animal. Making out with the same sex is
prohibited by our church because the primary focused
of having sex is to have a baby and it is only allowed
for marriage couple. So therefore, you allowed
yourself to be a sinner. If we allow this bill to become a
law, its like we allow ourselves to forbid the Lord our
God.
Criminality
If we allow this to become a Law, many people will
tend to give respect to LGBT community. Instead of
always bullying them when they see them walking on
the street, they will now pay respect to them. Bullying
can cause harm to someone [physically or emotionally]
that can lead to crime. If this bill will become a law, the
people will learn to respect people in the LGBT
community and the criminality in connection to
bullying will decrease. They will and they ought to do.
Today someone needs to stand up, to fight for our own
rights, to eliminate discrimination and to save the
people. Imagine if this bill will become a law, all LGBT
will not be afraid of going outside their comfort zone.
They will never be afraid anymore because of that bill.
Thats how we serve the freedom of every people.
Freedom
The freedom of the people will be served if this bill will
become a law. Think about a bird in a cage, he has a
limit because the owner is afraid to free the bird. Lets
put that in our real situation, if the government
(owner) allow this bill (free the bird), all of LGBT will
free from their comfort zone. In fact, there will be no
more LGBT anymore but the Filipinos because we are
now be one. They can wear whatever they want to
wear without any person that will make fun of them. In
short, cross-dressing will be allowed. Another thing is
that according to James 4:12 There is only one
Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and
destroy. But you--who are you to judge your
neighbor?. Yes, it is stated in the bible that God made
only two opposite sexes but it is not stated in the bible
what kind of dress does a particular sex most prefer. If
God has no problem with the way we dress, then who
are we to judge them?
There will always be criminality, no matter what
solution will be. But the thing is, what will be the
better solution? Dont passed the bill and just focused
on the people. If we passed this bill, many people will
abuse the law to do crimes. For example, those
perverts, if they want to see naked people, they will
just act like the opposite sex [if he, act as she] and go
to the comfort room. See, there is always a hole in our
Law. The right of every living person will be respected
if we disregard this bill. The state also serves the
freedom of the people even if they dont allow this bill
to become a law. Were talking about the freedom of
privacy, a male is a male and a female is a female, do
not break the line.
If we allow this bill to become a law, if we give their
freedom they want, it will result to a big problem in
the society. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is
one of that. Many of the LGBT will engage to sex
because theyre free. In fact, theyre engaged into sex
even though the bill is not yet a law. What more if that
will become a law? The rate of HIV victims will
increase. Seminars about HIV is not the solution here.
A law should be passed, not this law, in order to
reduced or atleast stop the increasing rate of HIV
victims in the country. Also, the freedom of the men
and woman will be affected. If you have an HIV and
your partner doesnt have, he/she will be infected and
the offspring which eventually become a baby will also
be affected. Im not telling that the gay always start
the problem, but they have the thing to be blamed for.
We all know that one cause of HIV is having sex
through anus. You know what I mean. And some of our
LGBTs has the capability to do that. Im not telling that
the all LGBT do that, but some. If we dont allow this
bill the freedom and goodness of the people will be
served.
