Co-axial Fed Double L-Slot Microstrip Patch Antenna Array


for WiMAX and WLAN Application.

II. ANTENNA DESIGN

The geometry of proposed single infinite ground Co-axial


fed dual-band antenna is shown in Figure 1 and the side
view is shown in Figure 2. The proposed antenna is
fabricated on FR4 epoxy substrate with dielectric constant
of 4.4, thickness 3.2 mm and the loss tangent of 0.02. The
proposed antenna consists of a rectangular patch in which
two L-shaped slots are embedded. The advantages of co-
axial feeding technique are the feed can be placed at any
location at patch in order to achieve better impedance

Initially a single patch antenna with coaxial feed was

from 2 to 8 GHz of the patch antenna is shown in Figure 7
and the input impedances observed at 2.6GHz and 3.6GHz
are 65 and 68 respectively.

For achieving better impedance bandwidth, double


microstrip patch antenna array antenna was designed and
simulated. The simulation results of return loss for array
antenna to satisfy both WiMAX /WLAN applications are
shown in Figure 5. To satisfying antenna operation at upper
band in both applications simultaneously the return loss for
the proposed array antenna is reached about -36.8dB at

cross-polarization (undesired) components can also be
measured by current distribution. The surface currents
