Urban Functions

Pangea is a city filled with many different components. The function of this city focuses on a mixture of a
major tourism market as well as a significant area for residential space. Having both aspects is a huge
advantage for the city because they go hand in hand with each other. The tourism market is helped by
the large amount of people in the residential area, making more workers available and for the people
living in the residential areas of Pangea there are many jobs to provide for their households which
automatically helps the economy grow without much of the cities potential being wasted. The increase
in the economy allows the city to improve living standards as well as creating parks, hospitals and
providing various other services which adds to the comfortable lives the people of Pangea lead.

The population of the city is made up of a split of natives and immigrants, making the city quite diverse
across the board with people from Asia, Africa as well as Europe. Made up of a nice mix of youthful
natives along with immigrating elders who stay on prolonged vacations, the city of Pangea does not lack
in diversity which contributes to the citys growth. There is a high immigration rate in Pangea as it is
primarily a tourism destination. Most of the population is here because they fell in love with the city
itself and decided to lead a life here. The high standard of living along with the feeling of always being in
vacation mode is a huge pull factor. Additionally, the growth of the city in all aspects is also a pull factor
as it opens many new job opportunities for incoming residents. One of the push factors of Pangea might
be that there is more of an importance for tourists so residents might feel like the city is always crowded
and may not always get a calm living for the most part with the constant flow of people.

Majority of the land as shown in the pie chart is divided between residential area and commercial and
open space as both uses of the land contribute to the main functions of Pangea in being a tourism and
residential city. As the immigration rate increases the demand for homes is increasing quickly but since
the city is tightly packed the main style of residents are apartments. Building upwards instead of
spreading across the land makes it possible for the city to hold more people per square foot and easily
grow without the size of the city being negative to the potential of the city growth. Also, the roads are
built well and uniquely around the citys main attractions to highlight them for tourists (Ex. Round about
around Pangea Panda Arena, Coastal Highway along beach). The attractions are also accessible by roads
easily and the bus/train stations are located near the heart of the city so that people can move around
freely to enjoy all that Pangea has to give. The industrial parts of the city are smartly located on the
outskirts of the city, still accessible but far enough to make sure that they do not come in the way of the
tourism experience of the city. The public services such as police station and hospital are located near
highly populated areas which are near the residential centres of the city so that these important services
can be easily reached by most if not all the people living in Pangea.

Urbanization

Pangea is a city which is increasing in urban growth quickly because of the demand from the tourism
market to develop further and keep the city an attractive destination. It is important that the
immigration of older individuals does not reverse this urbanization because of the laid back attitude
because for Pangea to be known around the world and attract more and more people each year the
technological and social advancements will be key. Also, urbanization will help the city make the most
out of its limited but beautiful land.

Aboriginals

In Pangea, aboriginals are reflected on in a great way which includes many public buildings being named
after groups and the education system makes it a course to teach the young minds of Pangea about the
history of the first nations which includes the origins and the struggles they have faced. The city also
compensates first nations in need with their own rights and money to help them continue living freely
how they please. This is how in Pangea first nations are respected and reflected on. An example is our
city is the Algonquin university.
