EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE

The PANEL, SCADA/DDC and power supply need to be switch on. The pipelines I
(PLI) and pipelines II (PLI) were opened. The panel controller FIC91 was set in Manual (M)
mode and setting the MV of FIC91 to -6.3%. The flow rate was set about 50kg/hr and the MV
was set to 106.3% at FIC91. The air volumetric flow rate at FI911 and the mass flow rate Fm
at FI91 was set as zero. The variables are recorded based on Red Pen (Mass flow rate (kg/hr)),
Green Pen (Volumetric flow rate (m3/hr)) and Blue Pen (Temperature (oC)). After start-up
procedure, experiment A (air flow measurement) the MV was set to -6.3% in Manual Mode.
The data was record in table. The data X1, X2 and X3 was taken at FIC91 while at the recorder
Fv and Fm the data was taken at FIC90. The data at rotameter FI911 and pressure gauge was
taken. The experiment was proceed with MV=50% and MV=70%. Experiment B (control of
air flow system), the MV was set to -6.3% in Manual (M) mode. The first (I) PID trial was set
PB = 200%, TI = 6s, TD = 0s, the second (II) trial PID was set PB = 150%, TI = 6s, TD=0s
and the third (III) was set to PB = 100%, TI = 6s and TD = 0s. The FIC91 was set to Auto (A)
mode, the recorder was respond and until the air flow (red pen) fairly steady. After that, the
control valve FCV91 was quickly opening and shutting and observe the result. The experiment
was repeated 3 set of PID trial which change the SV=25kg/hr to SV=30kg/hr. For the
experiment C (PID controller tuning), the FIC91 in Manual (M) mode with set point SV =
25kg/hr and the PID value was adjusted as PB = about 100%, TI = 9999s (Maximum), TD= 0s
(Minimum). The MV was adjusted until the PV value close to the set point SV value (SV = 25
kg/hr). The FIC91 was set to Auto (A) mode and the set point pulse disturbance was set up as
the SV increase to 28 kg/hr, the value was hold about few seconds and the SV was brought
back to SV = 25 kg/hr. The mass flow rate (red pen) was observed and the Closed Loop Tuning
Method was repeated with decreasing PB until uniform oscillation was observed. The new PID
value was calculated by PB corresponds to uniform oscillation = PB*, the distance between
two adjacent peaks = Tn* was calculated by formula and the PI was setting by using Ziegler
Nichols formula which are PB = 2 x PB*, TI = Tn*/1.2. The PI controller was set up to Auto
(A) mode and the test was performed with pulse disturbance. The shutdown procedure was set
up by stopping the recorder chart, the FIC91 was set to Manual mode (MV = 0%), the power,
the air supply and instrument air supply was shutting down.
