Dear Engr. Daculan,

A pleasant day to you sir!

As far as I could remember sir, last weeks activities were all focused on solid waste management.
The discussion on RA 9003 or simply known as The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of
2000, enables us especially me to have a glimpse and a little overview on our countrys solid
waste management. On the other hand, we also watched several films such as Garbage
Mountain, Importing Garbage for Energy is good for Business in Sweden, How Renewable Landfill
Energy Works, Making a Carbonized Rice Hull, Inhabit a Permaculture Perspective, and my bad
I could not remember the others, all of which are talking about waste management except with
the last one. The last film was a little bit different and off because it has nothing to do with solid
waste, or maybe it has, but honestly sir I cant find the connection.
Forgive me sir for being passive and showing little to no interest with the past republic acts, well
indeed, its what Ive stated in my previous letters. But as soon as I learned a lot about the
environmental cruelty or in other words humans brutality on nature, a part of me changed and
somehow I started to become concern with all the stuffs I throw in the trash can. The discussion
on different republic acts, together with the films shown in the class made me realize that what
Ive done is someway unacceptable. It may not be new to me but my knowledge on proper
disposal and management is refreshed. One simple rule I can think of is that solid waste should
be segregated depending on what kind of material it is made of. It may be paper, plastic, metal or
glass. Actually, I dont practice that at home and I feel ashamed now that I know all these stuffs.
Its like every time we watch those films, a huge green palm slaps me in the face, and I cannot
hate The Nature with that because its her job to punish me for being cruel. Moreover, the film
garbage in Sweden made me ponder that trashes are not useless at all, judging on what we only
see is irrational and unwise. Landfills are such disgrace for us because we think of it as void and
hopeless. Undeniably, a waste is a waste, but only when we dig more we see its massive potential
just waiting to be discovered by people who have weird but brilliant ideas. I salute them for being
bizarre.
Perhaps sir Im not in the right position to judge people who are no different from me. Instead I
should encourage them to avoid such mistakes and do whatever they think is good to preserve
the beauty of our nature. My only advice is, think different which I learned from Steve Jobs.

Sincerely yours,
