Digos City Central Elementary School is a popular SMART School of Digos City Division. It is proud of its commitment to provide
quality education that caters to the needs and ability of the children. Hard work, enthusiasm and collaboration lead to the
creation of the school.
The school is centrally located in the business section of Digos City. Nearby are shopping malls, banks, appliance centers,
restaurants, hotels, hospitals, a public market, college schools and churches.
Digos City Central Elementary School was established in 1926 as a small primary School. Few years later, it became a complete
Elementary School.

Digos City Central Elementary School was formerly known as Digos Central Elementary School, which was established in 1926 as a small primary school with
merely 2 teachers, Mr. Lejo and Mrs. Juana Directo couple.
During the Japanese regime, existing classrooms after the war were utilized to continue education, with Mathematics, Filipino and Nipongo as the only
subjects. However, very few Filipino children continue schooling, for many had evacuate to Cotabato. Before 1947, a number of years after the liberation, Digos
City Central Elementary School became a complete Elementary School.
Digos City Central Elementary School is proud of its Learning Resource Center which won 1st Place three consecutive years in the Regional competition. The
school won 1st Place in the Division Search of the Most Effective School in 2001. Its campus was like a paradise with its beautiful gardens of bromeliads,
chrysanthemum and grapes. Along its pathways grew a variety of San Francisco and Bougainvillea. Lined on its corridors are potted ornamental plants. Digos
City Central Elementary School was then proclaimed the most beautiful Elementary School in the province of Davao del Sur. Unfortunately, this beautiful school
was turned into ashes by fire from an unknown source on the eve of January 18, 2003. Its glorious past has become a memory. In spite of the crisis, the school
survived and regained what had been lost.

III. PROBLEMS AND ISSUES
The main problem we encountered in the school is that we do shifting of classes because of lack of buildings. In relation to this, because of limited
area, if in the future there will be more enrolment, the school will be having difficulties in erecting new buildings. Also, as the K to 12 Curriculum is
being implemented, classes are prompted to have whole day classes to accomodate the alloted total number of minutes.
