FLOOR PLANS ‘The FLOOR PLANS are drawings showing the outline and arrangement of the rooms inside the bullding as seen from a horizontal plane cutting thru the walls about one meter above the floor line. The proposed use, measurements and other important features of each room, which are drawn to scale, are indicated In multi-storey bulldings, a separate flor plan is drawn for each floor level when the layout of the room is not the same in each floor. However, when two or more floor levels have the same arrangement and features, one typical floor plan representing all the identical floors will suffice to be drawn, From the floor plans, one can estimate by direct count the following items or materials: a. Number of doors and corresponding hardware required, b. Number of windows and related required items; . Number of plumbing fixtures and corresponding accessories, Other information that may be found in the floor plans are the kinds of materials ta be used for floor finishes, walls or partitions. The floor plan may also show the suggested layout of fumiture, appliances and similar fixtures inside each room, but these items should be excluded in the bill of materials. However, the materials required for constructing permanent or integral parts of each room such as bedroom closets, kitchen cabinets, etc., should also be accounted for in the bill of materials, ELEVATIONS An ELEVATION as used in design and construction, is a drawing representing the projection of any part of a structure on a vertical plane directly facing it, Generally, there are four elevation drawings of the exterior sides of a building and these are those corresponding to the views of ils principal sides. These are the: FRONT ELEVATION, REAR ELEVATION, RIGHT SIDE ELEVATION and the LEFT SIDE ELEVATION, However, whien a building is many-Sided, mare elevations to show all its sides would have to be drawn, A building with a trangular floor plan would require only three elevations, Elevations should be properly projected from the floor plans and the vertical distances accurately drawn to scale. Also, the building features should be property illustrated and labeled ‘The view of the proposed building from the main street would normally be designated as the FRONT ELEVATION; the drawing of the project at the right of the viewer who is facing the front of the structure is the RIGHT SIDE ELEVATION: while that of the viewer's left is the LEFT SIDE ELEVATION. ‘The drawing representing the opposite of the front view is the REAR ELEVATION. The information and details about the structure gleaned from elevations, based on labels. or annotations indicated by the Designer, are: a. Overall design and character of the building: b. Materials and finishes for the exterior features of the building: ©. Height of the building and its various levels like: ground line-to-first floor level; floor line-to- ceiling line; level of basement, if any, from first floor or ground line; heights of other important parts of the building. d. Approximate or true profile of the building site if not level; ©. Types and designs of exterior doors and windows, AS ESTIMATING BILL OF MATERIALS - Tagayun
