- Visualization Hello, Everyone!
What a wonderful first week of school! We spent last week getting
- Interactive Read Aloud:
to know each other, familiarizing ourselves with the classroom routines,
Wonder and strengthening our classroom community. We discussed our
community agreements and we agreed upon the following:
1. Be positive; 2. Respect each others differences; 3. Give your best
Writing effort; 4. Be an Eagle (safe, respectful, responsible); 5. Be prepared to
learn; 6. Have fun!
- Where Im From poems Last week we also voted on a name for our classroom society! We
would like to introduce ourselves The Lost Wonders J. Last week we
also voted on a design to use for our currency for our classroom
Math economy. It will be called Leveridge Loot. Our first Pay Day will be this
- Introduction to math Friday! Last week we participated in multiple team-building activities to
help us learn more about how we work together as a community. We
workshops
talked about the multiple intelligences in our classroom and celebrated
our different interests and identities by sharing our cultural artifacts with
the class. In our class, we have students who identify with many
Science different ethnicities, cultures, religions, talents, and interests. In our
- Physical Science: States of classroom alone, we have students who speak 11 different first
languages! How incredible is it that we all get to learn with and from

- Rock candy Lab This week, we will begin our first writing assignment. We will be
writing Where Im From poems and will be discussing the power of
using figurative language in our writing. These poems are
autobiographical and will be a great way for us to continue to share
Social Studies about ourselves and to get to know one another!
In math, we will spend this week familiarizing ourselves with the
- Classroom Economy math workshop model and practicing problem-solving with a team. We
- Oregon Geography will also take the pre-assessment for our first math Module who focuses
on multi-digit multiplication.
This week we will also begin our Oregon Geography unit and our
science introductory unit. We will start our first science lab this week,
and it sure will be SWEET!
