S5P2. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to investigate electricity.
a. Obtain and combine information from multiple sources to explain the difference
between naturally occurring electricity (static) and human-harnessed electricity.
b. Design a complete, simple electric circuit, and explain all necessary components.
c. Investigate and test common materials to determine if they are insulators or conductors
of electricity.

Safety Considerations - Review the danger and safety when dealing electricity.

The Learning Plan

ENGAGE: Share YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js7Q-r7G9ug

EXPLORE:
Now tell students today they are going to learn more about circuits.
Review vocabulary words for the next lesson with students via powerpoint
and kinesthetic modeling.
Learners will define words and place them in the glossaries of their
interactive science notebooks.

Review vocabulary terms of the lesson

Power Point Presentation explaining what causes an electric current and
how to make series circuit and parallel circuits

There will be embedded comprehension check throughout the

presentation.
Learners will get into pairs while preselected students will work in small
groups to complete GPS wrap-up and lesson review pg. 198 in their science
textbooks.
Discuss the difference between conductors and insulators

Learners will build series circuits in small groups (LAB)

EXPLAIN: Students will continue with PowerPoint and studyjams to guide

themselves about the difference in circuit. Theres a quiz at end of the video each
child will take to measure their understanding.

EXTEND: Leaners will be put in small groups and continue to research series
circuits and how it blain with our unit

EVALUATE: Student will write a reflection using the unit vocabulary and series
circuit in their science notebook and share with classmate.
