Communication for Be the Lighthouse

Overall Communication from the leader-

Dear Team,

There is nothing more invigorating to the human spirit than working towards creating a new future
with team members who are equally passionate.

In our pursuit to appreciate what inspires and unite the team, we charted out themes to create a
culture of trust, respect, care and passion to win, with fun being at the core of all our endeavours.
Let us now embark on a journey to co create what we have envisaged. Let actions be more vibrant
than words; let us synergize, believe each person is a linchpin, create an environment of trust and
respect that facilitates passion to win, and where values act as both a foundation and a compass.

We have planned a series of interventions that will help us reflect on who we are, the vibe we want
to radiate, and, ultimately, help us build the culture that we have envisioned. The purpose of the
interventions is to understand the why from the inside out, internalizing and exemplifying what
we stand for as HR team.

The first workshop is being planned on 21st April 2017 on Principles and Paradigms, you already
have the entire schedule of the journey spanning over next 6 months.

Each one of us must take the responsibility to personally live the culture that we want to create.
None of us will get there perfectly as individuals, however, we must acknowledge constructively
where we are falling short and then actively move toward getting better and supporting each other.
Building, evolving and transforming culture takes both time and hard work. While skills can be
learned, it takes will, passion and enthusiasm to cultivate attitude and character.
Putting these into practice will meet resistance as the team grows; we will figure it out together as
we go.

Wish you all the best.

Invitation- Principles and Paradigms

Dear Team,
Welcome to the first workshop of the journey: Be the Lighthouse- "Principles and Paradigm".
As you are aware, the journey- Be the Lighthouse designed for all of us; comprises of a series of
programs that would help us achieve sustained superior results by focusing on making us more
effective.
The 1st session-Principles and Paradigms is based on the proven principles found in Dr. Stephen R.
Coveys best-selling business book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: The workshop would
focus on the principles of effectiveness, paradigms that are aligned with principles and practices that
produce effective results.
I can assure that we would gain hands-on experience, applying timeless principles that yield greater
productivity, improved communication, strengthened relationships, increased influence, and laser-
like focus on critical priorities.
During the journey, you are encouraged to share your experience, learning, and insight with the
team. The differing experiences and perspectives of all of us attending the workshop will expand
your learning and enable us to learn things together that we would be much less likely to discover on
our own.

Invitation- Emotional Bank Account

Dear Team,
Welcome to the second workshop- Emotional Bank Account part of the -Be the Lighthouse
journey.
We would discuss the concept of Emotional Bank Account, a powerful metaphor that relates the
amount of trust in a relationship. The metaphor suggests that every interaction with another human
being can be classified as a deposit or withdrawal in that persons trust.
For example, we make deposits in another's trust by showing kindness, keeping promises, honouring
expectations, proving loyalty, and making apologies. In other words, we put something into a
relationship. We build and we repair.
While small things build trust, small things also destroy trust. Unkindness, breaking promises,
violating expectations, showing duplicity, and being proud are withdrawals that take away from a
relationship.
Let us create positive and powerful energy in our lives by humbling our ego and allowing these
principles to guide us through the rough waters. Look forward to an amazing experience as we
embark on this journey together.

Invitation- Be Proactive

Dear Team,
Welcome to the 3rd sessionBe Proactive, part of the Inside Out journey-Be the Lighthouse.
We would discuss the 1st Habit- Be Proactive from the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. This is
the first step towards achieving the private victory.
As you would have experienced, the proven principles and habits described by Dr Covey provide a
holistic, integrated approach to personal and Interpersonal effectiveness. As we learn and apply the
habits, we will increase our power, influence and unity with others.
Be Proactive is a habit of personal vision. Each person has the power to make his or her own
decisions. When we use this power to choose our responses according to self-determined values, we
are proactive. In other words, proactive people use a margin of freedom to make choices that best
apply their values. As they work on things they can control (their Circle of Influence) in lieu of
reacting to or worrying about conditions over which they have little or no control (their Circle of
Concern), they use positive energy to influence conditions and increase their Circle of Influence.
Look forward to an enriching experience as we tread together on the path to becoming Proactive.

Invitation- Begin with end in Mind

Dear All,
Welcome to the 4th session- Begin with end in Mind, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.
Begin with end in Mind is Habit 2 in Dr Stephen Coveys bestseller 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
and is a habit of personal leadership.
It states that the most effective people shape their own futures. They benefit from beginning with
the end in mind in all areas of life. Instead of letting other people or circumstances determine their
results, they carefully plan who they want to be, what they want to do, and what they want to have,
and then they let their mental plan guide their decisions. This mental plan for their life's purpose
expressed in written form is called a mission statement. A person who has a mission statement and
uses it to guide decisions will live in harmony with his or her self-determined purpose.
As we all know, habits are patterns of behaviour that involve three overlapping components: desire,
knowledge, and skill. Because these three components are learned rather than inherited, let us
learn the effective habits and unlearn the ineffective ones.
I am very excited to take our next step towards achieving the personal victory! Good Luck

Invitation- See the light (2 Hours)

Dear All,

Welcome to the 5th session- See the Light, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.
In this workshop, let us revisit our shared purpose and strategic vision that we had set for ourselves.
We would be discussing the common ground between our HR goals and that of ours individually to
become better and develop a stronger character ethic as a team.
As Albert Einstein said We cant solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used
when we created them. Let us share fresh perspective that we have developed to give
momentum to an inside out approach to achieve our vision. Let us together unleash our path of
shared purpose by creating a transformation from within.

==================================================================================
Invitation- Put First Things First

Dear Team,

Welcome to the 6th session- Put First Things First, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.
This habit focuses on what is personal management? What are first things?
First things are those things that we personally, find most worth doing. They move us in the right
direction. They help us achieve the principle centred purpose expressed in our mission statement.
First things are always important and are sometimes urgent:
Important. An activity is important if you personally find it valuableif it contributes to your
mission, values, and high priority goals.
Urgent. An activity is urgent if you or others feel that it requires immediate attention. When we
graph these two elements and their opposites, four quadrants emerge which describe the activities
we engage in. These quadrants form the Time Management Matrix.
The best use of our time focuses on the quadrants that emphasize importance.
In this workshop we would discuss that of these two quadrants, our primary focus should be on
Quadrant II, through which we can pursue excellence in our work and in our relationships.
Look forward to an enriching experience as we tread together on the path of choosing our big rocks.

Invitation- Think Win Win

Dear All,

Welcome to the 7th session- Win win, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey. We have by now
discussed the 3 habits of personal victory. Let us together move to master the public victory to
achieve the highest level of maturity- interdependence.
In this workshop, we would be discussing on how to attain and retain the habit of interpersonal
leadership. Dr Covey states that think Win-Win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks
mutual benefit in all human interactions. Win-win means everyone wins because agreements or
solutions are mutually beneficial and satisfyingall parties feel good about the decision and feel
committed to the action plan.
A win-win person possesses three character traits: integrity, maturity, and an Abundance Mentality.
People of integrity are true to their feelings, values, and commitments. Mature people express their
ideas and feelings with courage and with consideration for the ideas and feelings of others. People
with an Abundance Mentality believe there is plenty for everyone.
Look forward to a stirring experience as we continue our journey together to develop a mindset of
abundance.

Invitation- Seek first to understand then to be understood

Dear All,

Welcome to the 8th session- Seek first to understand then to be understood, part of the Be the
Lighthouse journey.
In this workshop, we would discuss the habit of communication. When we listen with the intent to
understand, our interpersonal communications are more effective. We quit sifting everything
through our own paradigms and stop reading our autobiographies into other peoples lives. By
setting aside autobiographical responses and caring about what the other person is trying to
communicate, we are better prepared to listen empathicallywith intent to understand.
The second part of the habit, seek to be understood, takes courage and skill. You need courage to
express your true feelings and be open. You need skill to clearly and accurately express your point
from the others frame of reference.
Look forward to a thrilling experience as we continue our journey together to communicate with
intent to listen and understand.

================================================================================

Invitation- Synergize

Dear All,

Welcome to the 9th session- Synergize, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.
In this workshop we would discuss the habit of creative cooperation. We will learn from Redwoods,
whose root systems are shallow, grow close together. Their roots interlock and keep the trees from
toppling when heavy winds come. Two working cooperatively have the potential to multiply the
results of each working separately. This principle, Synergize, also holds true in social interactions.
Two people, creatively cooperating and interacting interdependently, will be able to accomplish
more than the sum of what they could accomplish separately.
I am very excited as we progress together in our journey by valuing each others differences, open
ourselves to new possibilities, practice Think Win-Win, build trust and reap the benefits of
synergizing.

==================================================================================
Invitation- The Fruit Salad (2 Hours)

Dear All,
Welcome to the 10th session- The Fruit Salad, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.
In this workshop, let us discuss how we have put the principles into practice to realize what we have
set out to accomplish.
Each one of us looks at things in a unique way. Today, the companies with the greatest competitive
advantage are those that can make the most of their peoples diverse abilities. Let us leverage this
workshop to appreciate each others unique perspectives, understand peoples inherent differences,
and collaborate in a mutually beneficial way.

==================================================================================
Invitation- Sharpen the saw

Dear All,

Welcome to the 11th session- Sharpen the saw, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.
In this workshop, we would discuss the habit of self-renewal. As, dulled by use, a saws serrated edge
can no longer cut through wood, the blade is not in the proper condition to saw effectively. To
function effectively, we need to also sharpen the Saw.
In other words, we need to preserve and improve ourselves. The key to sharpening the saw is to
regularly and consistently work on all four dimensions of renewal: physical, social/emotional,
spiritual, and mental. Bodies and minds exerted on a regular basis are prepared for exertion.
Conscience, consistently listened to and followed, becomes increasingly sensitive. Relationships,
loyally attended to, grow.
Let us start balancing and sharpening all four dimensions and improve our effectiveness in all of the
habits. In doing so, let us grow, change, and improve.

Invitation- Put your strengths to work

Dear All,

Welcome to the 12th session- Put your strengths to work, part of the Be the Lighthouse journey.

In this workshop, we would discuss the concept of Claiming your strengths by Marcus Buckingham,
author of many best sellers like Now, Put your strengths to work.

We would discuss how we can take responsibility for claiming our strengths by recognizing the signs.
Strength is an activity that strengthens us, but it can be hard to pay attention in the course of a busy
workday to how what we do makes us feel. We would understand on how to notice the SIGNs of
strength and also understand our strengths in detail.

Look forward to an enriching experience as we tread together on the path of identifying our
strengths and putting them to practice.
