NCGOP: Please make it right.

Dear Central Committee Member,

I am writing to you today as a concerned Republican, and to convey a real-world, big picture view of what happens to a
party divided. Over my adult life, I have had the opportunity to work for the party in other states, and have now returned
home to North Carolina in the midst of the current controversy.

During my time as State Secretary in Alaska (2012-13), a similar controversy plagued the Alaska Republican Party. I had
the unfortunate job of documenting the removal of two popularly-elected state officers. The Chairman elect was removed
before he even served office, and the Vice Chairman elect was removed after assuming the office of Chairman.

The circumstances and means by which the drama unfolded was unsightly, and the removal of the sitting Chairman in
2013 was plainly illegitimate. The entire situation was bereft with very public intrigue, coercion, and downright thuggery
just like what we are seeing now within the NCGOP.

The result? The Alaska Republican Party lost countless volunteers and donors. Worst of all, they lost their leverage at the
polls. Alaskans did not retain their incumbent Republican Governor, Sean Parnell, in 2014. Instead, union-backed Bill
Walker is now unleashing an Obama-style agenda on Alaskans.

Republicans also lost significant ground across the state - including in Sarah Palins Wasilla. With oil prices at current
levels, coupled with a spend-hungry Governor, Alaska is now in massive debt and headed towards a potential
humanitarian crisis.

This is what the NCGOP intrigue is engineering for North Carolinians. A defunct, powerless party, and a long-term return
to a Perdue-like era or worse. And no, it doesnt matter what faction you claim, or what side you are on. If this doesnt
get resolved ethically and promptly, there will be no winners. We will all lose.

As a native North Carolinian and life-long Republican, I do not want this potential future. I not only urge, but demand
you put a stop to the nonsense.

I am not privy to the details of the root issue, so I cannot tell you what decisions to make in light of the facts. I can,
however, tell you what I expect of my party leadership. I expect:

Retention of elected officers, unless tangible malfeasance has been proven and a proper, transparent process has
been executed for removal (with the Respondent present);
Professional, ethical and appropriate behavior by elected representatives and hired staff; and
Dismissal of any hired staff that willfully seeks to undermine the success of our candidates, elected party officers,
or the ability for our party to operate effectively.

I know the tone of this letter is intense, but the consequences of removing an elected officer without just cause or
adequate public understanding endangers the very purpose of this party to get Republicans elected (and keep them
in office). So, please forgive me, but it is important you appreciate the gravity of your position in this matter.

Please also remember that I have been where you are, and understand how difficult it can be. North Carolinians, and
our Republican candidates, are relying on you to do the right thing preserve our party, and pursue an ethical exit to this
controversy. Please, make it right.

Sincerely,

Alic Leuchte
Republican, Lee County
