Blackadder Goes Forth was a BBC comedy that examined the FWW, written byRichard
CurtisandBen Elton. The episodes featured characters Blackadder, Baldrick and
George during their time on the Western Front. The series has received criticism for
perpetuatingtheLionsledbyDonkeysmyth.

EdmundBlunden
(1896 1974) Edmund Charles Blunden was a British born poet, author and critic. During
theFWWheservedinthe11thRoyalSussexRegiment,winningtheMilitaryCross.Hewas
saidtohavebeentraumatisedbyhiswarexperience.Hisreassessmentoftheworkofmany
ofhisfellowwarpoetshasledtotherediscoveryofthegenre.

Established by Royal Navy in the North Sea to prevent merchant ships reaching Germany

The campaign began in 1957 in Britain and has acted for nuclear disarmament and
