MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF CAR FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM

WITH DIFFERENT MATERIALS

ABSTRCT:
A Shock absorber is a mechanical or hydraulic device which is absorbs the shocks
while the vehicles experience the shocks due to irregularities on the road surface.
It does this by converting the kinetic energy of shock into another form of energy
i.e. heat energy then this heat energy dissipated to the atmosphere.

In most shock absorbers, energy is converted to heat inside the viscous fluid. In
hydraulic cylinders, the hydraulic fluid heats up, while in air cylinders, the hot air
is usually exhausted to the atmosphere. In other types of shock absorbers, such as
electromagnetic types, the dissipated energy can be stored and used later. In
general terms, shock absorbers help cushion vehicles on uneven roads.

Shock absorbers are an important part of the suspension systems of automobiles,

motorcycles, and other wheeled or tracked vehicles, as well as aircraft landing gear
and the supports for many industrial machines.

The purpose of shock absorber is to do two main things. I.e. First of all the shock
absorber must absorb the shocks from the uneven road surface and the second one
is keep your tyres always contact with the road surface. If the contact between
tyres and road surface is not good the steering of the vehicle will become more
difficult.
So to overcome like this difficulties we must provide the best suspension system
which is suitable for the vehicle.

EXISTING SYSTEM:
Macpherson originally created the design for use at all four wheels, but it is more
commonly used for the front suspension only, where it provides a steering pivot as
well as a suspension mounting for the wheel.
Steel alloys are the most commonly used spring materials. The most popular alloys
include high carbon, oil-tempered low carbon, chrome silicon, chrome vanadium
and stainless steel.
SOFTWARE:
Firstly we have shock absorber of automobile as an existing model. We will check
the strength ability, damping factor, shock absorbing capacity etc with the help of
software we are analyzing static and dynamic analysis.
UNI-GRAPHICS is used to design the dimension of the suspension system and
ANSYS is used to analyze the effect of forces over the suspension system.
