Summary of Identity in Christ

Bride of Christ
Characteristics of a Bride:
She is holy (Greek: hagios) chaste or pure; exciting reverence; sacred; pure from the world; pure from fault.
She is blameless (Greek: amomos) Blameless does not mean sinless perfection. You are to live so that those outside of
Christ cannot rightfully point an accusing finger at you.
She is adorned (Greek: kosmeo) garnished; to put in order; to ornament; embellish with honor; arrange; make ready;
prepare.
She has simple devotion (Greek: proskartereo) to Christ to wait on continually; to adhere to one; steadfast attention to; to
persevere, not to faint; constant readiness for one; to show ones self courageous for.
o Ephesians 5:23-24 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the
Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
o 2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I
might present you as a pure virgin.
o Revelations 19:7-8 Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His
bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the
righteous acts of the saints.

Friend in Christ
We share His thoughts We have the Holy Spirit of God living inside of us. He takes the thoughts of God (His special
revelation: Bible) and makes them know to us.
Jesus has great things to show you because you are His friend. Perhaps you need to give up control and allow Jesus to fight
the battle. Are you seeing Gods greatness Because Hes faithful in showing you.
Jesus includes you in His plans You know the Fathers business because of Jesus. Even in the small things in life. (For the
disciples passing out fish increased their faith and allowed them to participate in Gods miracle.
Enjoy being with Him. Because you are His friend, simply enjoy being with Jesus.
o John 15:13-15 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do
what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have
called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
 Royal Priest in Christ
Exalted Active role in Gods presence; never out of Gods As a royal priest, you have a life of prayer; an
presence intercessor for others
Minister for God Teacher or priestly service to others You are holy, like God
o 1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Gods own possession, so that
you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were
not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Conqueror in Jesus
Overcome or to get the better of (overcome difficulties) succeed in dealing with a problem
to be a victor hurdle or master something
o John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but
take courage; I have overcome the world.
o 1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is
in the world.
o 1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the worldour
faith.

Ambassador of Christ
Christians are appointed by God to declare His will (moral will), the Bible. An ambassador is:
Messenger in a foreign land Remonstrates or opposes when wrong was done
One who goes on errand (task) To do injury to the ambassador is to insult the king who
Diplomatic agent or official of the highest rank to sent him
represent the king
Paul was referred as an ambassador of Christ because he had an apostolic mission to convey the Gospel of Christ.
o 2 Cor. 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on
behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
o Eph. 6:19-20 pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with
boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I
ought to speak.
