2.1 System Configuration

A system consisting of the REGIUS MODEL 110, a REGIUS console, and a JM is required to operate the REGIUS
MODEL 110.
This section shows an example of a typical system configuration where the REGIUS MODEL 110 is connected to a
REGIUS console and a JM.

2.1.1 Example of Connection to CS-1/CS-2/CS-3

Example of Highly Distributed System (one-to-one connection)

Bar code registration is available in both post- and pre-registration. However, a bar code reader is required for
performing pre-registration with bar codes.
Pre- and post-registration methods cannot be used at the same time in one 1-to-1 connection system.
The network connection configuration shown below is also possible. Connection to an external device requires two
or more Ethernet boards in the REGIUS console.

There are no steps or steep slopes, etc. that may affect the REGIUS MODEL 110 during transfer.
The doorway of the room through which the REGIUS MODEL 110 (width: 365mm) will pass through should
be sufficiently large.
There should be no deformations on the floor surface even after transporting the REGIUS MODEL 110
(weight: approximately 100kg).

2.2.7 Checking Network

When connecting to the facility network, contact the network administrator for the following information.
IP address and subnet mask of the REGIUS MODEL 110
IP address of the gateway (if a gateway is used)

2 Elevating unit This unit loads and holds a cassette in the machine, and opens and closes the
lock of the cassette.
3 Transport unit This unit catches only the back plate (including the REGIUS plate) from the
cassette held in the elevating unit and moves it to the reading position (in the
back of the machine).
4 Vertical scanning unit This unit scans the optical and erase parts vertically (while moving in horizontal
directions).
It reads data while moving from the back of the second front to the second front
and erases the data while moving back.
5 Optical part Consists of a laser scanning part and a collecting part, this part reads image data
on the plate.
6 Erase part This is a two-stage hybrid eraser consisting of a halogen lamp and a hot-cathode
tube. It erases the image data from the plate.
This part is built into the optical part.

cassette, and the cassette is held by the width adjustment mechanism.
The transport unit catches the back plate, and the locking/unlocking mechanism unlocks the cassette.

3 The transport unit transports the back plate to the reading position.

4 The optical and erase parts read the image data on the plate while moving to the second front.

5 The optical and erase parts erase the image data from the plate while moving to the back of the second front.

6 The transport unit transports the back plate and presses it against the front plate.
The locking/unlocking mechanism locks the cassette.

7 The shutter at the cassette insertion slot opens, and the receiver holding the cassette moves up.

8 The user takes out the cassette that has been ejected in the cassette insertion slot.
The shutter shuts after the cassette is taken out.

2.5 Handling the Cassette

Observe the following instructions when handling REGIUS cassettes (RC-110 series).
Maintaining Image Quality
Be careful to keep the data side of the plate free from damage or foreign objects.
Clean the plate immediately if a foreign object is found on the data side.
When handling a plate, wear gloves as you do when handling films.
Do not expose plates to sunlight.
Perform any tasks, such as cleaning, where plates are exposed to fluorescent light as promptly as possible.
Return the plates into the cassette immediately upon completion.
Keep the front plate free from damage or contamination.
Transportation and Storage
Be sure to satisfy the following temperature and humidity conditions.
Temperature: 10 - 40C before unpacking the plate
10 - 30C after unpacking the plate
Humidity: 80% RH or less (no condensation)
Avoid exposure to radiation including X- and -rays.
When transporting or storing cassettes in cardboard boxes, keep them in horizontal position. Storing or
placing them vertically for a prolonged period of time or in a hot environment can deform the back plates.
Be sure to store unpacked plates in a cassette.
Do not store the cassette with its locks disengaged. Storing a separated back plate in a leaning position can
result in warping.
Do not drop or hit the cassettes.
As with the cassettes previously used, store currently used cassettes in a propped position on the racks
Checking before Insertion
To ensure proper cassette transportation in the REGIUS MODEL 110, check the following before inserting a
cassette.
Check that the locking mechanism is free from deformation or damage and that it works properly. Do not
insert a faulty cassette into the REGIUS MODEL 110.
Check there are no foreign objects such as pieces of paper in the memo clip on the panel.
Check there are no foreign objects such as clips between the front and back plates.
To ensure that the magnetizing plate catches the back plate securely, ensure that there are no tape or other
objects attached to the back plate.
Check that the bar code is not smudged.
Check that the cassette is locked.
Disposal
When disposing of cassettes, be sure to do so by using authorized industrial waste disposal firms in
accordance with applicable ordinances and regulations of the local government concerned.

3.2 Unpacking
This section describes the packaging format of the product and the procedure for unpacking the product after its
arrival.

The REGIUS MODEL 110 weighs approximately 100kg. Secure sufficient space to transport
and move it, and work carefully.
Caution
Place a palette in a level location before starting unpacking. If unpacking is carried out on a
sloping surface, the machine may move.

Unpack the product in an area with sufficient space.

When the product is unpacked in a place other than the installation location, check that there
Important are no steps or obstacles in the way to the installation location.
For information about the unpacking space, refer to 2.2.5 Checking Unpacking Area (Page
2-6).
If the machine is unpacked immediately after it is moved in, dew condensation may form
inside the machine due to indoor/outdoor temperature differences (approximately 10C or
more). To prevent this, let the product stand for approximately one hour at the installation
location before unpacking.

Eliminate the clearance between the cable and the floor or wall to avoid hazards to people
walking over it.
Caution
Otherwise, someone may trip over, resulting in injury or damage to the cable or machine.

1 Check that the power breaker is turned OFF.

If the power breaker is ON, turn it OFF.

2 Connect to power cable to the power supply port.
