Una vez obtenidas todas las secciones transversales del tramo a estudiar,
procedimos a introducir las secciones en el programa HEC-RAS. En la
figura 2, podemos apreciar los datos geomtricos de la seccin 1. Este
proceso se realiz para cada una de las secciones en nuestro tramo de
estudio. Una vez introducimos todas las secciones al programa, obtenemos
una vista de planta con las ubicaciones de las secciones (Ver figura 3).

- Flujo
El flujo para el anlisis del tramo estudiado se obtuvo aumentando el flujo hasta
que una de las secciones llegara a su profundidad normal mxima. La figura 7
muestra la seccin transversal que determin el flujo para este proyecto. Este flujo
ser el utilizado para las partes II y III. Ese flujo es el que entra a la primera
seccin transversal aguas arriba. El flujo calculado para nuestro tramo de estudio
ser de 50 m3/s (Ver figura 8).

- Errores o Advertencias
Segn el anlisis, podemos concluir que el flujo obtenido como flujo base para
nuestro tramo de estudio cumple en todas las secciones transversales. Este flujo sera
el mximo permisible ya que si aumenta tendramos desbordamiento en una de las
secciones. El modelo del canal se comporta parecido al campo ya que tambin simula
el salto hidrulico que se haba obtenido en pasados proyectos realizados en la
Quebrada y que sabamos que estaba presente. En cuanto a los avisos del programa se
puede argumentar que en nuestro caso se pueden descartar ya que la parte canalizada
es bastante uniforme y el tramo en tierra no es muy extenso lo que significa que no
vara mucho su geometra en la distancia medida. Este modelo representa bien la
topografa del campo y el comportamiento del flujo en la quebrada. Se estar
utilizando este modelo en las siguientes partes del proyecto.
En la segunda parte del proyecto se analiz el canal incluyendo los puentes que
Cruzan el mismo. Para este anlisis se prosigui con el procedimiento de la parte I y
se le aadieron las secciones en los puentes. Estas secciones adicionales tomadas en
los puentes fueron insertadas en el programa HEC-RAS para analizar el canal. Por
otra parte se analizaron los puentes como Alcantarillas (Culverts). Se repiti el
procedimiento pero se le indico al programa que en lugar de ser puente sera un
Alcantarillado. Por ltimo se obtuvieron los resultados para ambos mtodos y se
compararon los resultados de los mismos. En las siguientes secciones se explica al
detalle la metodologa utilizada, los resultados y las conclusiones.
2. Antecedentes:
Para realizar el modelaje del cruce de la carretera se utilizaron dos distintas formas.
La primera fue el modelaje de la quebrada con puente. La segunda forma fue el
modelaje de la quebrada con alcantarilla (culvert). Los dos mtodos se describen a
continuacin.

Una vez se entraron todos los detalles del puente se procedi a analizar el
canal. En la figura 18 se observa la geometra del canal y se observa el puente
peatonal entre la estacin 1 y 1.04 y otro a una mayor escala entre las
secciones 3 y 4.
Del mismo modo en el que se introdujeron las secciones del puente en HEC-
Ras, se hizo lo mismo para el modelaje del culvert. Se puede observar los
datos entrados al programa para las estaciones y el high chord, tanto para
aguas arriba como para aguas abajo.

Luego de haber entrado los datos del detalle del deck/roadway se procedi a
analizar el culvert. La siguiente figura nos muestra la geometra del canal y se
puede observar el culvert entre las secciones 3 y 4.
Se prosigui a insertar los datos requeridos para el anlisis del culvert. Para
modelar el cruce con un culvert, se necesit informacin de algunas estaciones
en las secciones 3 y 4, antes y despus del cruce de la carretera. Luego se
continu con el modelaje de la alcantarilla con el icono de add culvert y se
entraron los datos necesarios. Existen 9 distintos tipos de culverts, entre ellos
se encuentran: circular, box, pipe arch, ellipse, arch, semi-circle,
low arch, high arch y conspan arch. Dentro de estos culverts se escogi
el culvert tipo box. Se ingres el dato del ancho (span) y alto (rise) los cuales
fueron 6.2m y 3.05m respectivamente. Para los culvert tipos Box, hay que
escoger el tipo de nmero de grfica y el nmero de escala. Para el modelaje
del culvert se escogi la grfica nmero 8 flared wingwalls y con un
numero de escala 1 wingwall flared 30 a 75 grados.
Siguiente se entraron los valores de la distancia hacia aguas arriba que fue
de 0.1m y el largo del culvert de 10.57m. Para los coeficientes de prdidas de
entrada se fue a la tabla 6.4 del manual de Hec-Rass y se obtuvo un
coeficiente de prdida de 0.5. La n de Manning se obtuvo de la tabla 6.1 con
un valor de n=0.0013. La elevacin de la invertida tanto aguas arriba como
para aguas abajo fueron de 4.4m y 4.36m respectivamente. Por ultimo,
colocamos los datos de las estaciones del centro para aguas arriba y aguas
abajo, 33.91 y 106.22 respectivamente. En la siguiente figura se muestran los
datos insertados para el anlisis del culvert.
En la siguiente figura se muestra una vista transversal del culvert tanto para
aguas arriba como para aguas abajo.

Tambin se midieron secciones en las caras aguas arriba y aguas abajo del puente.
Estas secciones lo son la seccin la seccin 4 y 3. Adems el programa genera unas
secciones aguas arriba y abajo del puente interpoladas dependiendo de la distancia
que se le indique que se encuentra el puente desde la seccin aguas arriba. Los
resultados para dichas secciones se pueden ver en las figuras 24, 25, 26 y 27.
El segundo caso para este puente evala la ecuacin de energa con el error mnimo
entre los valores asumidos y computados de la superficie de agua. En la figura 29, se
observan estos datos y advertencias.
La profundidad mxima del canal alcanza unos 1.49m mientras que la altura del
cruce de 2.92m. Por lo tanto la superficie del agua no alcanza la altura del cruce.
Se puede observar en la siguiente figura que se crea un salto hidrulico aguas arriba
del culvert, convirtiendo as el flujo en uno supercrtico, y luego del culvert se
observa una cada.
La siguiente figura nos muestra los resultados para la seccin 3.5 en el culvert.
Para la seccin aguas arriba se puede observar que la profundidad mxima del canal
alcanza unos 2.58m, mientras que la altura del culvert es de 3.05m por lo tanto al
igual que sucedi en el puente la superficie del agua no alcanza la altura del culvert.
Al haber finalizado el modelaje tanto para el puente como para el culvert se obtuvieron
resultados los cuales nos mostraban lo que ocurrira con el canal si se construyera un
puente o un culvert. Para ambas formas de modelaje se encontr que producan una cada
hidrulica en la seccin 4 aguas arriba del canal y/o culvert, lo cual producira un flujo
supercrtico. A causa de esto se forma un salto hidrulico cierta distancia aguas abajo del
puente cuando el flujo vuelve a ser subcritico debido a la pendiente menos empinada. La
altura del puente aguas arriba y del culvert es de 3.05m. Esto es comparado con la altura
critica que producira la cada hidrulica, para el puente fue de 1.49m y para el culvert fue
de 2.58m segn es mostrado por los resultados en las tablas antes presentadas. Para los
dos casos la superficie del agua no alcanza la altura del puente y del culvert. No obstante,
es recomendado el modelaje del puente ya que es el que produce una altura crtica menor
comparado con la altura crtica del culvert y se pueden editar la geometra con ms
detalle.
1. Resumen
El propsito de esta parte del informe fue evaluar la posibilidad de realizarle mejoras al
canal. Se evala la posibilidad de eliminar el salto hidrulico y se sugieren ciertas
medidas para lidiar con la contraccin que lo causa. Adems se evalan varias opciones
de canalizacin como hormign o riprap demostrando que la mejor de ambas es la de
hormign.
2. Antecedentes
Como parte de la solucin en las mejoras del tramo de la quebrada de oro, el cual une al
canal trapezoidal revestido de hormign con el canal natural de tierra. Se requera hacer
una canalizacin entre las secciones 9 y 6 el tramo de canal en tierra. Para esto se
escogieron 2 tipos de revestimiento, en hormign y en Riprap.
Adems se requera tratar de mejorar las condiciones de flujo entre las secciones 3 y 5
donde comienza el canal en hormign y termina el puente de mangual. En estas secciones
ocurre una cada hidrulica que provoca un salto hidrulico aguas debajo de puente. Se
requiere determinar si el salto hidrulico es posible eliminarlo.
3. Discusin
- Diseo preliminar.
Se propuso como solucin para canalizar este tramo de tierra natural el revestirlo
con un canal de seccin trapezoidal de hormign. Para esta seccin utilizamos la
seccin ptima hidrulica para asignar algunas de sus dimensiones. La seccin
hidrulica ptima es una seccin que produce una descarga mxima para un rea de
flujo especfica. Segn la teora, la seccin hidrulica ptima produce el canal ms
econmico para su construccin. Para nuestro canal propuesta la seccin hidrulica
ptima para un trapezoide es el cual tiene un ngulo de las paredes del canal de 60
Dada todas las condiciones obtuvimos una profundidad normal de 1.734 metros, el
cual produce un flujo normal de 50 metros cubico por segundo. A este nivel normal
del agua debemos aadir un freeboard, el cual depende de la profundidad normal y
de una constante C, la cual depende del flujo de diseo. El freeboard se define
como la distancia vertical desde el nivel del agua normal hasta la ancho de tope del
canal. Para nuestro canal, la constante C fue de 0.65 para as obtener un freeboard
de 1.06 metros. Por ende, nuestra profundidad total fue de 2.79 metros, la cual est
por debajo de nuestra profundidad mxima fsica provista por el canal. Adems
obtenemos un ancho de tope de 11.7 metros. Donde su rea de flujo es de 16.4
metros cuadrados y un permetro mojado de 12.5 metros, para s obtener un radio
hidrulico de la seccin de 1.3 metros. En la figura 34, se observar un esquemtico
sobre la seccin transversal propuesta para el revestimiento del canal natural.
Segn los datos de campo sobre nuestro segmento, tenemos que la pendiente de los
lados no puede ser menor de 1.5 metros, ya que esto podra causar inestabilidad en los
taludes, por lo tanto utilizamos una pendiente de los lados de 2.0 metros.
Al calcular el esfuerzo cortante crtico para que inicie el movimiento de las rocas,
con la siguiente ecuacin: ; donde es el dimetro de las rocas en pies,
obtenemos un valor de 47.88 pascasles. Luego calculamos el valor de la rugosidad
hidrulica de la ecuacin modificada de Strickler, , el cual nos dio
un valor de 0.0317. Asumiendo un fondo de canal de 18 metros y con el flujo pico,
podemos obtener de la ecuacin de Mannings la profundidad normal, la cual fue una
de 1.744metros. Por lo tanto obtenemos un rea de flujo de 37.48 metros cuadrados,
con un permetro mojado de 25.8 metros y un radio hidrulico de 1.45 metros.
Como parte del diseo del revestimiento se calcul el espesor del banco, el cual es
el espesor de las rocas del revestimiento en las paredes del trapezoide, en donde se
obtuvo mediante la siguiente ecuacin: ; obtuvimos un valor de 5.25
pulgadas o 0.13 metros. Tambin se calculo el espesor del dedo, el cual es el espero
Para este canal se calcul tambin el valor de Freeboard, el cual con su valor de
la constante C de 0.65, obtuvimos un Freeboard 1.07 metros. Para as obtener una
profundidad total de 2.8 metros. Con la cual obtenemos un ancho de tope de
29.2metros. En la figura 36, podemos observar una seccin de nuestro trapezoide
revestido con Riprap.
En esta parte del estudio se compararon los resultados obtenidos de las secciones
obtenidas en la parte anterior contra los resultados en HEC-RAS. Se utiliz la opcin
de Channel Modification (original) en las opciones de geometra de HEC-RAS bajo
Tools. En la figura 37, se muestra el panel para seleccionar la opcin de modificacin
de canal.
Se puede ver de la tabla de resultados del nivel del agua en las secciones aguas
arriba a disminuido alrededor de unos 0.3 metros al igual que la velocidad promedio
por unos 0.4 m/s. Podemos tener una mejor idea del comportamiento si vemos una
vista de perfil comparando ambos anlisis. La figura 40, muestra la vista de perfil
comparando ambos resultados.
De la vista en perfil se puede ver que despus de la canalizacin el nivel del agua
es mucho ms uniforme en las secciones aguas arriba. An se sigue generando el
salto hidrulico ya que solo canalizamos desde la seccin 6 a la 9 y no se
consideraron las secciones 3 a la 5 que es donde se genera un estrangulamiento del
flujo, estas se tocaran ms adelante. Adems se debe sealar que precisamente debido
a esto el nivel del agua es mayor en los cmputos de HEC-RAS ya que en los
cmputos a mano no se consider la contraccin y la baja sbita entre las secciones 3
y 5 lo cual afectan el flujo aguas arriba ya que este es sub crtico. Por ltimo se
pueden observar las diferencias entre las secciones antes de canalizar el tramo y
despus (figura 41).
Para esta parte del estudio se trat de realizar una canalizacin parecida a la de la
parte anterior con una pendiente que conecte uniformemente a la seccin 4 para as
evitar una bajada sbita entre las secciones 3 y 5. Se corri el programa y se encontr
que los resultados fueron bien parecidos a los de la parte anterior con mrgenes de
error despreciables. Esto nos deja saber que el salto hidrulico que ocurre en la
quebrada es mayormente a causa de sus reas inefectivas que crean una contraccin
en el flujo y retienen el agua provocando que tenga que aumentar nivel (con su
posible inundacin en el rea) su energa para poder pasar y por ende aumentando la
velocidad y llegando a estado crtico.
Podemos concluir que, para el canal de seccin hidrulica optima, cumple con
parmetros de campo, ya que nuestro ancho de tope mximo que tiene nuestro tramo
natural es de 17 metros. Tambin, cumple con nuestra profundidad mxima del
segmento, la cual es 2.8 metros. Adems, cumple con las recomendaciones de que la
velocidad mxima para un canal revestido con hormign no es mayor a 18 ft/s, el cual
para esta seccin fue de 10 ft/s. Lo nico que tenemos que modificar seria el ancho del
fondo, ya que para este segmento nuestro ancho mximo es de 8 metros, pero nuestro
ancho de fondo de diseo es muy parecido, por ende no tendremos problemas algunos en
excavar 0.5 metros.
Al comparar la opcin de revestir el canal natural con Riprap con los parmetros fsicos
de nuestro canal, podemos ver que cumple con la profundidad mxima de nuestro canal,
el cual fue de 2.8 metros. Por otra parte, podemos ver que el ancho del fondo de canal
que cumple para nuestro diseo no cumple con el mximo fsico el cual era de 8 metros.
Adems, este diseo no cumple con el ancho mximo de tope, ya que sobre pasa los 17
metros por 12.2metros. Por lo tanto, al comparar los requisitos que cumple cada diseo,
observamos que la opcin de canalizar el tramo mediante un revestimiento de hormign
trapezoidal es la ms efectiva y apropiada para la geometra de nuestra seccin.
Por ltimo, el salto hidrulico que se produce a cause de las condiciones geomtricas
entre las secciones 3 y 5 se debe mayormente a la contraccin del canal en esta parte del
tramo. Se trat de ajustar la pendiente del tramo pero an se generan condiciones crticas
en el puente que son causa del salto hidrulico en la quebrada canalizada. Se recomienda
reestructurar este puente o canalizar una transicin que provea un movimiento de flujo
sub crtico a travs de cauce para as evitar cambios de estado en el flujo.
