Reflection

The film Secret (2007) was an impressive film from the characters,
the use of music, and its story. This Taiwanese film is great to watch
for people everywhere, young and old alike. What makes this film
great? And What is it all about?

The film is set in 1992 Taiwan and is about Ye Xiang Lun, a talented
piano player transfers at the prestigious Tamkang School. On his first
day, he meets Lu Xiao Yu, a pretty girl playing a mysterious piece of
music. The two develop a romantic relationship, and Xiang Lun finds
out that Xiao Yu is a time traveler. The time travelling plot twist is
actually unexpected. One would think that the film is just another
teen romance film only to be caught off-guard to see that one of them
travels through time just to meet the one they love. Additionally the
music gives the film an enchanting feel while emphasizing its musical
theme. My favorite character in the film is Lu Xiao Yu, because of her
personality and the fact that she has an awesome ability to drift
through time. The conversation between Xianglun & Xiaoyu was about
Chopin and his lover. Xianglun lamented that the two eventually parted
ways. However, Xiaoyu seemed envious that the couple was able to spend
10 years together, which for the couple, was possibly a long time.

My own initial interpretation for the movie is that love is timeless.

Wherever you are and whenever you are, as long as you love someone,
you will go to great heights to reach and nurture it. I like
everything in the film Secret(2007). From their intriguing characters,
excellent music and the fascinating story.
