SEQUENCE A GAME OF MATHEMATICS STRATEGY

EQUIPMENT
Game board, 112 Sequence Cards, 50 blue marker chips, and 50 red marker chips.

PLAYERS
Two Players

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

One player must score ONE SEQUENCE before their opponent. A Sequence is a connected series of
FIVE of the same color marker chips in a straight line, up or down, across or diagonally on the playing
surface.

PREPARATION
Place the game board on a flat surface with enough room around the game board for placement
of the draw deck of cards, marker chips and discards for each player.
Each player must choose a color of marker chips.
The dealer should shuffle the cards and deal out five cards to each player.
The players can now pick up their cards while making sure no one sees their cards.

CARDS
There are three different types of cards. The NUMBER card, the INFINITE card, and the NULL SET card.

NUMBER CARD
Each of the cards can either be positive or negative, it ranges from negative twelve (-12) to
positive twelve (12), can be have an operation of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, or Division.

INFINITE CARD
It refers to something without any limit. Thus, the player can place a marker chip in any positive or
negative square of the game board.

NULL SET CARD

It is also called the empty set, it is a set that does not contain anything. Thus, a player can
remove any opponents marker chip placed on the game board.

RULES
1. Begin with the player with highest draw card.

2. The first player selects a card of choice from their hand and place it face up on a discard pile.
Then place a marker chip on the game board that corresponds to the sign of the chosen card.
NOTE: Players should start their own discard pile in front of them visible to the other player.

3. The next player will then place their card of choice face up on their own discard pile. The marker
chip will be placed on the game board will depend on the result of the (a) the previous card, (b)
the operation of the previous card, and (c) the card in hand.
If the result is POSITIVE:
Place a marker chip on the positive square of the game board.
If the result is NEGATIVE:
Place a marker chip on the negative square of the game board.

4. All players must draw a new card from the draw deck after each turn. Failure to draw a new card
before the next player makes a move, loses the right to take a card and must finish the game with
less cards in hand.
5. If an INFINITE or NULL SET card was discarded by the previous player, a marker chip should be
placed on the game board that corresponds to the sign of the card in hand.

6. The INFINITE SYMBOL in the four corners of the game board are BONUS CHIPS. All players
can use them through their color marker chip is in the corner. When using a corner, only four of
your marker chips are needed to complete a SEQUENCE. More than one player may use or
share the same corner as part of a sequence.

DEAD CARD
If the player holds a card that will result to zero (0) when combined to the discarded card of the previous
player, they can draw a new card from the deck in exchange to it. Then, the player can continue their
turn.

LOSE A TURN
If a player placed a marker chip to the game board that doesnt correspond to the right sign, they need to
remove the marker chip and they will lose a turn.
