If any questions arise, consult the local ABB representative or the factory:
IMPORTANT!
If calling ABB, please leave your name, department and phone number.
This will allow the responsible ABB representative to call back without
delay.
1.1. General
The safety instructions of the excitation system shall be followed. Read
the instructions in the User Manual of the UNITROL 6080 excitation
system carefully before operating the device and keep this document for
future reference.

CAUTION!
This symbol indicates a dangerous situation. Non-observance may lead
to physical injury or cause damage to the installation.
NOTICE!
This symbol emphasizes important information. Non-observance may
cause damage to the installation or to objects close to it.
IMPORTANT!
This symbol indicates useful information. Not to be used to indicate
dangerous situations.
2.1. Introduction
The Service Control Panel (SCP) is used for controlling and monitoring
the UNITROL 6080 excitation system. Each channel (control and
converter unit) has its own panel which is connected to the Communi-
cation Control Measurement Device (CCM) of the corresponding channel.
2.2. Operation
The operator has a range of displays at his disposal, which informs about
the status of the excitation system.
All indications on the display are real feedback information. This means
that all data shown on display are retrieved directly from the selected
excitation system.
The SCP offers the following features:
Monitoring and control
Parameter viewing and editing
Real time clock
Time Synchronization
Fault Logger
System parameter customizing:
- Change language
- Change output display
- Clear Fault Logger
- Set time zone offset
The SCP possesses a real time clock that can be configured via the
menu CLOCK SET. Time synchronization between the CIT application
(Control IT) and the SCP is done automatically. Thereby the CIT
application is the time master and the SCP the time slave. However it is
also possible to change the CIT application time via the clock set menu
SET TIME. The time on the SCP is the local time of the CIT
application.
The Fault Logger allows the user to view events, warnings, alarms and
trips that have occurred in the MATLAB/Simulink application running on
the controller. The Fault Logger displays the time and date of the fault,
GlobalID, class and the triggering edge and the number of the fault. It
displays the last 255 faults, and can be cleared using the SCP.
2.4. Hardware
The unit cover is made of plastic and is mechanically robust.
The Ethernet socket RJ-45 is on the rear side of the case.
The panel is snapped into place on the front cover of the channel device.
2.5. Settings
There are no settings to perform.

CAUTION!
Changes of parameters are made at the customers own risk and should
generally be avoided.
NOTICE!
After a parameter is changed, a snapshot file*) must be generated to
document the modification for future reference. This also accounts for
the spare parts.
4.1. Maintenance
The battery of the clock must be replaced after 10 years. The type of the
battery is CR2032.
