According to the latest census, undertaken in 2010, the population of Brazil


was 190.7 million, although this number has grown significantly in the last six
years.

Brazil has an estimated 2016 population of 209.5 million, up from less than
200 million just six years prior.

Throughout Brazils history, population growth has been rapid and Brazil is a
country of young people. Today, 62% of Brazilians are aged 29 or under.

5. Currency (money)
Brazil's national currency is the real, which is pronounced "ray-all;" the plural
is reais, pronounced "ray-eyes." The common monetary symbol here is R$.

Brazilian banknotes can distinguish by the different colors and distinct animals
on the back of each bill. The one-real note features green coloring and a
hummingbird, while the blue two-real note has a turtle. The violet five-real bill
bears an egret crest, and the scarlet 10-real features a macaw. Yellow 20-real
bills have a lion and monkey design. The 50-real note has golden-brown
coloring and a jaguar insignia, and the sky-blue 100-real bill exhibits a grouper
fish. In addition, Brazil also uses a coin system with centavo values of R$0.01,
0.05, 0.10, 0.25, 0.50 and 1.
6. Flag (description)
Their current Brazilian Republic flag was officially adopted on November 19th,
1889.
The Brazilian flag begins with a dark green background with a large yellow
diamond in the middle. In the center of the diamond is a blue globe with 27
five-pointed white stars. Each star represents one of each of the states in the
Federal District, which are arranged in the same pattern as the Brazil night sky.
Across the globe is a white banner that reads, Ordem E Progresso, that
translates in English to Order and Progress.
Each color stands for something very important to the Brazilian culture. Yellow
represents the gold reserves the country holds. Green symbolizes the great
Amazon Rainforest, Atlantic Jungle, and the Panama all of their amazing
tropical landscape.
7. National or typical dance
Its dance is varied and complex; Hailing from centuries of external influences with the
cultures of the local Amerindian tribes. Because dance is used by cultures old and new
to express themselves, tell tales and convey messages in very personal ways, there are
no real rules.
However, certain dances have been formalised and perfected, and continue to be
popular amongst local and international dancers alike.These include:

The Samba
The samba comes from old African rhythms and customs.
At first it was danced alone in private, by the lower classes, and during the 1920s it
became very popular, and evolved in terms of its styles and its wider acceptance.
8. Traditional dish (food)
Feijoada: Considered the national dish of Brazil, this is a thick stew of black beans
with pieces of beef and pork added to it. It is traditionally prepared in a clay pot.
