Dear sir/madam 3rd June 2017

RE: Rehabilitation of Kaparu mission turnoff to Chinyongola road

Greeting to your vital office. On behalf of the community we serve here at Kaparu
Mission, Chiyongola Secondary School and the community at large, we would like to appeal to
your office to help repair the kaparu mission turn off road to Chinyongola secondary school.
The road is an essential road serving three major public institutions that is, The
school with a population of approximately 1200 pupils (chinyongola secondary school), The
Kaparu Rural health Clinic which serves approximately fourty villages in its environs and
Kaparu catholic Mission which covers areas from Musoka to Ipongo.
The road is an essential road giving access to the three above named institutions.
Its stretches proximately 12km off Old Mumba road. Due to the heavy rains that have been
experienced over the last two years and most especially early this year, there has been a lot of
damage on the road making the area difficult to access. Its has proven to be a difficult drive for
teachers at Chinyongola secondary school with many opting not to use their cars on the road due
to its bad conditions. Transportation of building material to the school and the mission have also
been delayed and difficult to transport. Due to the same bad road conditions, it is difficult to
evacute patients from the clinic for referral to Liteta Hospital. It takes very long for the
ambulance to arrive at Kaparu clinic due to the bad road. And also the missionary priests at
Kaparu mission have had difficult times to access other places due to the bad road especially
during the rainy season.
On the other hand, farmers have a difficult time to transport their farm inputs to
their farms and farm produces to the market because many transporters dread the bad road
conditions. This presents a big challenge and hindrance to the development of the area.
We therefore would like to appeal to the Chibombo District Council to humbly
help rehabilitate this road to make accessibility and transportation easy for the people in this
area.
We eagerly await to hear from you on the way forward to make this road better
and improve on the inhabitants of this area and its environs.

Yours sincerely

Fr Thomas Otieno, sma

Parish Priest.
